So many bedroom guitar warriors on here saying how easy AM songs are to play. No one is suggesting they are difficult. What makes Alex so talented is the fact at 3:58 he can play the verse riff for Crying Lightning whilst singing it perfectly like the studio version. Anyone can play chords and sing at the same time but singing a melody and picking individual notes on a different melody simultaneously takes a lot of practice. Alex does it here perfectly, whilst keeping the time, and live in front of a huge crowd. Few people will understand how complex that is.
@felipetorres27152 жыл бұрын
He composed the song dude…melody and the lyrics, playing is actually easy. Compose is a different story, much more complex..
@beuhgo18092 жыл бұрын
@@felipetorres2715 No one is saying composing the songis less difficult, but that doesn’t mean singing and playing melody on a guitar is not difficult because it surely is
@felipetorres27152 жыл бұрын
@@beuhgo1809 if u play guitar for a long time you will see that is only a matter of practice and effort. Even a untalented mongoloid like me can play the riff and sing the lyrics of arctic monkeys tunes. Compose good rock songs its not a matter of practice, u need to have be a real special fella.
@isbakguad32532 жыл бұрын
Look I’ll be honest, singing it as well isn’t that difficult, but what makes it all special is that very thing. It’s so good while sounding difficult

I dislike the fact that so many people are hating the fact that Alex's voice has changed. Some people are blaming on his cigarettes and others are claiming that he is just trying to be cool. I believe that he changes his voice around because it's what he feels most comfortable with and we shouldn't judge that. Also just cause Alex acts a certain way on stage doesn't mean he is COMPLETELY different. It would be weird if a grown ass man was acting like a teen. So come on let's get over it and not become a toxic fandom hahaha
@irishhungrydwarf90153 жыл бұрын
Exactly true! I recently went to see the kooks, who are genuinely trying to preserve the etiquette of their first album which is just depressing seeing them now. I would much rather a band who evolves and becomes something bigger, which is the arctic monkeys!!!

Teddy Picker lyrics They've sped up to the point where they provoke The punchline before they have told the joke Plenty desperation to be seen Staring at the television screen They've sped up to the point where they provoke You to tell the fucking punchline before you have told the joke Well sorry, sunshine, it doesn't exist It wasn't in the Top 100 list And it's the thousandth time that's it's even bolder Don't be surprised when you get bent over They told ya, but you were dying for it She saw it, and she grabbed it, and it wasn't what it seemed The kids all dream of making it, whatever that means Another variation on a theme A tangle on the television and the magazine Do you reckon that they do it for a joke? Do you reckon that they make 'em take an oath That says that we are defenders Of any poseur or professional pretender around When did your list replace the twist and turn Like a fist replaced the kiss? Don't concern us with your bollocks, I don't want your prayer Save it for the morning after And it's the thousandth time that's it's even bolder Don't be surprised when you get bent over They told ya, but you were dying for it Let's have a game on the teddy picker Not quick enough, can I have it quicker? Already thick and you're getting thicker Let's have a game on the teddy picker Not quick enough, can I have it quicker? Already thick and you're getting thicker Presuming that all things are equal Who'd want to be men of the people When there's people like you?

Crying Lightning Outside the cafe by the cracker factory You were practicing a magic trick And my thoughts got rude, as you talked and chewed On the last of your pick and mix Said, "You're mistaken if you're thinking that I haven't been called "cold" before" As you bit into your strawberry lace And then offered me your attention in the form of a gobstopper Is all you had left and it was going to waste Your pastimes, consisted of the strange And twisted and deranged And I love that little game you had called "Crying Lightning" And how you like to aggravate the ice-cream man on rainy afternoons The next time that I caught my own reflection It was on it's way to meet you Thinking of excuses to postpone You never looked like yourself from the side But your profile could not hide The fact you knew I was approaching your throne With folded arms you occupied the bench like toothache Stood and puffed your chest out like you never lost a war And though I tried so not to suffer the indignity of a reaction There was no cracks to grasp or gaps to claw And your pastimes, consisted of the strange And twisted and deranged And I hate that little game you had called "Crying Lightning" And how you like to aggravate the icky man on rainy afternoons Uninviting But not half as impossible as everyone assumes you are Crying lightning And your pastimes, consisted of the strange And twisted and deranged And I hate that little game you had called "Crying Lightning" "Crying Lightning" "Crying Lightning" "Crying Lightning" Your pastimes, consisted of the strange And twisted and deranged And I hate that little game you had called "Crying"

Yes, to me. I can't really speak for anyone else, can I? It doesn't have much passion in it, I don't find it particularly interesting in any way. Big fan of the Monkeys, but their solos were never a strong point.
@dayshawna6 жыл бұрын
Apollo Alexandre it’s not about if it’s basic or not, or if it’s strong or weak. it’s about how it makes you feel. it’s just a cool little solo, it doesn’t have to be complex for it to be great. it’s about how it fits with this amazing song, that’s how most of their solos are. it just needs to hit you in all the right spots :-)
@apolloptx6 жыл бұрын
dayshawna I understand music and solos, ok? I don't judge them on their complexity or speed, or any other dumb shit. Attitude and feel matter most. And this lacked either for me. I'm a big fan of the band, but their solos were never a selling point. This was just bleh.
