My question is, If you repair the beam, what are the chances of another failure in other spots ?? So would it be more feasible to replace the bridge ???

Exactly!?!?!!

They can weld it back together and then weld splice plates over it and it'll last a hundred years

The Mississippi River closing? That cannot be good.

Biden ? Democrats ? Same mentality as lumber industry, petroleum industry, and construction. Same mentality as stock market and covid response. The perfect storm would be an interest increase to curb the run away inflation. Maybe we can get China and our multi-nationals to help us ? And, don't forget... Biden is in charge of the military. And, as the economy slows, we can all go live under a bridge. Your home can be sold for taxes just like what happened during the great depression.. War is coming, and your kids can go fight and die in it. Good. Want more freebies ?? Want to not have to work ? We deserve what we get. I miss Trump.

Is the beam steel? Where did you find that reporter? CNN?
@nononsenseBennett3 жыл бұрын
They need to Xray the steel to determine the integrity of the rest of the structure.

They need to install a temporary ferry system to cross the river.

There's no road that goes down to the river from i 40 that bride takes 50000 vehicles a day so though a ferry sounds like a good idea it wouldn't work . What they should of done back in the 80s was put a bridge on the north side of Memphis run it from 240 to 55 .
@pinchmesh28563 жыл бұрын
@@tonyeaton671 So, the options are: Fix the old bridge if it's worth fixing. If not, build a new one. In the meantime, ferries are slow, but better than nothing. Move closer to work, aka move across the river. Drive around if you have to. Or, you can find a job closer to home.

People drive to fast over that bridge and most bridges the speed limit at the time the bridge was built I think was 55 mph

but the republicans will say its too expensive to tackle our infrastructure. Our country literally needs the infrastructure redone and jobs. Let's just let all the other countries surpass us, and even Mexico will have better roads than us.
