I have used two of the Elegoo Mega's as well for DCC++EX builds and have found them to be great. I still need to dive deeper into the Arduino space for my model railroad projects. I just lack the time as of late.

More info.....can smell the smoke coming from my ears clear down in Florida? Question say I want to use the arduino system to control different lighting effects in different structures at the same ( different room lights) going on and off randomly at different times. Do I need multiple ardunios?

You can do it all from one Arduino depending on how the code is written. What got me interested many years ago was Geoff Bunza's article in MRH using the DPM Empty Arms Hotel showing different rooms randomly turning on and off. He is the master.
