Eli, Thanks for the "Big Picture" introduction. I have been roaming around for a few weeks now, not knowing if Arduino was what I was really what I was looking for. There is nothing more disappointing than to invest time and money into a product , only to find that it wasn't what you expected. I did not realize the depth of what Arduino has to offer. Thanks for setting me straight. Glad that I found your program.

Great introduction for the first class Eli, I'm glad you are using this structure to teach. my starter kit arrived yesterday but it's branded Genuino. it may be a silly question but is there any difference between Arduino and Genuino? looking forward to the next class
@elithecomputerguy7 жыл бұрын
do a google search... not being snarky, but there seems to a big hubadoo on the subject. "Much of 2015 has seen the open-source board maker defending itself from its former manufacturing partner, which recently claimed ownership of the brand, launched its own Arduino product line and website, and worked to bar distributors from buying Arduino products from other manufacturers." ... it's too late in the day for my brain to sort this one out...
@shanedavies94637 жыл бұрын
Thanks Eli, I think my query was probably insignificant, the kit obviously works the same. Time for some shut-eye here too. see you on the next vid👍

@linards447 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can and should connect yore arduino board in order to upload yore code. It uses USB port on yore PC.
@WolfgangEgger7 жыл бұрын
+Shane Davis No, there are no differences. There were some months, where the founders of Arduino had some beef and therefor there were some copyright and brand-issues. And while that period, one of the founders has produced and sold the Arduino (afaik) for Europe and Asia under the brand Genuino. But because the board itself is Open Source, its the same board, but with a different brand. After some months, they came together again and I think, Genuino will be history, soon ....

Do you own any of the elenco Bajillion-in-1 kits like what you used to find in radio shack or their newer "snap circuits" these help to understand the wiring diagram of an arduino. Also if you could name drop atmel who makes the processor in the arduino and compare their data sheet wiring example to a wiring diagram of an arduino it would teach everyone a lot.

Please Mr Eli what do you mean by people using the arduino boards for prototyping. I wasn't clear on that
@elithecomputerguy7 жыл бұрын
you use the boards to develop a product with the abilities you want... then you design a finished product with only the components you actually use... so a prototype will be an ugly half foot tall stack of shields... but then you design the finished product to be a single board and have a manufacturer create 100K of them...
@davidutomi38647 жыл бұрын

You can also go to tinkercad.com which is free and created by a major company (Autodesk) - they have a narrow range of components but it's enough to get your feet wet into the world of electronics with the arduino (Complete with it's programming and libraries), the breadboard, and all the many various electronics. Out of the 15 sites I've tried this is the best one and best of all it tells you if you screwed up and destroyed your virtual component (with say too much voltage or throughput power) and overall you can build some intricate stuff with little to no knowledge of hardware or software electronics at no cost and without the stress of trying all this out in real life for the first time and not know what your doing. My first arduino project which controlled an LCD character screen with remote control interaction was done through many many hours of trial and error through this site which helped me learn all about the arduino, and the very basics of electronics and circuitry. Would highly recommend.
