Having come into Arduinos from an IT perspective, I found the C programming bit was easy - I mean it's only one loop - the stuff I had to learn was the electronics to do with interfacing and switching - the first things that are useful to learn are things that help with switching: pull up and pull down resistors, MOSFETs, bipolar junction transistors and relays (hint - limit back EMF spikes with a reverse biased diode across the relay coil). ^_^

Thank you Eli, thoroughly entertaining and informative. Manufacturers need to understand that high quality entry level kits are just that - an entry for beginners who know little into a new technology. For the price of a colour laser printed instruction sheet and $4 of jumper cables, they could have upped this to something which would generate actual brand loyalty.

Just to point out for anyone using this as a benchmark on whether they should buy the product, you can see at the start of the vid the inside of the box was ripped before Eli opened it and was bought from a third party at half price... Was most likely second hand and the original buyer just forgot to put the instructions back in the box before it got to Eli, especially if it says instructions included on the back of the box. Can't say anything about the 'missing' parts though. never bought the product so no idea whether it's actually good or not. Just worth getting a second opinion if you are a buyer

Thanks, i'm going to buy this kit anyway. But first i have to deal with the kit i bought recently, have no time. Btw it seems like the sensor supposed to be attachen to one of the motors, it should move its "head" while wandering around.

wow Eli I was wondering why you took everything out the box without mentioning instructions, I'm heading over to order the starter kit now but I'm going to wait for you to sort these guys out before I think of getting the car kit lol. cheers for adding the book recommendations

I'd say to skip the car kit... the more I try to figure it out, the more it feels like it's just incomplete. Beyond lack of instructions, I simply don't see how you mount the range sensor, and it definitely doesn't have the colored wires shown on the box. "for all skill levels" this does not appear to be...

Eli the Computer Guy Eli quick question what's the point of learning to code for ex php to develop a website when now you can go online and have software etc to "create your own website" there's alot of websites that advertise now how easy it is to do that.
@shanedavies94637 жыл бұрын
Definitely one to skip then, like you say "for all skill levels" starting out would be frustrating. Strange how they did such a good job with the starter kit instructions, seems a little inconsistent...

I volunteer for a middle school robotics club and we bought 15 of these in 2016, worst thing we ever dealt with. The quality was poor at best, end up trashing them. I have an unused one still because they are worthless kits not worth the cost. There are poor instructions online that done really walk somebody through it.

... that was my worry with the kit... for someone like me I can just chuck it in the parts bin, but I can see folks buying a bulk of them as some type of kid education thing and being royally screwed...

If computer people shipped life saver mints, they would be sealed in anti-static bags. :-D Simple instructions! "Put it together". That's simple. Ha HA!

It's unfortunate you're no longer doing political commentary - I'd love to hear what you have to say about James Comey and the Russia Hacking investigation. Damn!
@elithecomputerguy7 жыл бұрын
.... EVERYONE is coming out bad on that one... The more Comey talks the more I wonder how he lasted as long as he did...

It's all very curious, but for an FBI Director, he seemed so timid in the presence of Trump, almost intimidated. He practically froze up after being "requested" to do make this investigation go away. That should have been exposed then and there, unless he was digging deeper.
