That caught me out so I made a tester that is just a micro USB socket with some LEDs and a USB 2 socket and some LEDs and a battery so I can test all my leads 4 wires for any opens

Very clever! I've encountered no data lines, and worse, unreliable data lines. Makes me crazy!
