Hello congratulations for sharing. I have a roue codeuse on the motor shaft (recovered from a printer).I did the test of 5v pulses sent by the transistor. Could you specify where I have to connect these pulses on the arduino motor shield. Thank you.

Nice explanation. I have one doubt. Why you have given power supply to Arduino board but not to motor shield? What if I power the arduino by usb and connect the power supply to motor shield? What if I power the motor shield only and not connect the usb?

Why do you use the power jack? Is it to powe the motor because it draws way too much current and arduino can not handle?

The board has ONE configurable component - the PWR jumper - and it isn't mentioned!When the jumper is installed power is supplied from the Arduino 9v supply. The plug for this supply is visible in the video, below the motor shield, when the motor is operating. When the jumper is removed power is supplied from the motor board +M terminal. This is the recommended mode of operation if using multiple motors or servos. Do not leave the jumper installed if both power supplies are connected: there are no isolating diodes.The description of the LED is unintelligible.

how to control 1 servo and 1 dc motor using l293d motor shield at same time. I watch many video on l293d shield but in all video different motor not run at same time . For example if there is a code for dc motor than you can run only 4 dc motor. If there is a code for servo motor you can run only 2 servo. OK. Sorted. There has been a change in the software. A sketch for my 2 year old obstacle avoiding robot works and it was compiled 2 years ago with the line : AF_DCMotor motor1(1); but this same line fails now. Using the lines: AF_DCMotor motor1(3,2); AF_DCMotor motor2(4,2); compiles and works on my grandson's tank. I suppose the second parameter is useful but since Adafruit don't support the board I can't see many people not being caught out by it.

Thank you for this. But it doesn't explain why a sketch, even Adafruit's own examples, now fail to compile. Whereas they always used to, without the second parameter. I am not very good at coding so I don't have much time for sketches/programs that don't work. Nor do I understand the complexities of .h and .cpp files so I have to rely on expert advice and I am very thankful for it!
