Not to mention actually easy to rebuild with the cylinder sleeve to take it to stock or a bigger bore. But, IMO the 8.1 would be heavier and help with the light front in(in recent videos lifting the front off the ground. One of the biggest fixes would be a much lighter foot on the skinny pedal !!!!

that is where the chain style cutters are meant to cut them at also, just below the rolled seam, where it's very strong against distortion due to the circular plate and layered seam. also with that chain style cutter(all types) you need to start with *very* light pressure, finger tighten the adjuster and snug it in small increments as you turn back and forth or rotate around(full revolution or two for large single wheel pipe cutter. I onw neither and have brute forced the seams with pump pliers before(not fun takes ages).

Perhaps this is a good case for a torque wrench :)

The Wreaker Games may have something to do with that engine being a little worn.

I think its time for an LS... I don't know why but I thought that you had decided on an LS during the build. A diesel (Cummins) would provide all kinds of torque but it adds a lot of weight. An LS has torque and horsepower and is SOOO easy to work on, not to mention it is much lighter.

Go for LS

It was really good to see Grandma in there. She was funny😂. Hopefully you fixed your engine and you won’t find any more metal in it. 👍❤️

In these current times the ol’ big blocks are almost unheard of. That being said, just keep it please! Make papa proud

How about the 8.1 Vortec? Good engine and should be plenty of power.

His engine is already better than that

I hope these boys will learn to appreciate all the knowledge and experience they are receiving as they work with their dad. And maybe Hunter too! (JK Hunter - love you dude!)

for real, I never had someone teach me even basic car stuff growing up, like changing brake pads, I had to learn it all on my own as an adult. Cost me a lot of money before I did too lol

Yeah it was very cool seeing the boys working together 😊

8.1 no doubt, like a few others have said they make great low end torque for heavy hauls and itll help keep your front end planted.

Cummins 4BT with big injectors and big turbo would be a sweet little setup.

Nah.. not enough power. That would be nice in the Tacoma though.

Cummins my be heavy merlons truck did great in the wrecker games. I'd probably be thinkin of maybe a built 6.0 ls maybe supercharge it
@wesman7837 Жыл бұрын
@chiphazzard8173 I love 6.0's, but he could have used a lot more weight when he was recovering the trailer that trailer that was trying to tip off the road!

I look forward to seeing the followup video on the wrecker. Hopefully you can find someone who can work a deal with you on an LS! That would be a great build series.

I built a 460 Ford big block bored .30 over to 466 and used Dove heads. Drove it like I was mad at it and races it in mud drags never had anything break

I’ve been having motor problems as well. They are very frustrating. The valve spring keepers fell out and dropped a valve into the cylinder. Came bad from the guy that bought it from ford. I feel your pain

I'm adding to the pool of votes to go with an 8.1 - you still get the LS platform with the big displacement your dad was a fan of, and the HP/torque you're looking for.

I stopped using white lithium lube for rebuilds since it doesn't disolve into the oil.. personally I really like the durability & power of a common rail cummins but the added weight does pose a problem in the sand & mud. They are definitely a heavy-duty working beast!

I'm really impressed with the 6.2L L86 in our '14 Silverado. 420HP and 23MPG if I drive nicely. They're starting to get old enough you could probably find one in a junkyard. An AFM delete kit (or not, ours has been fine so far), maybe see if Holly can sponsor you for the computer (they seem to be doing a lot of that) and you're good.
