This machine is based on a Ford 5000, which was then converted by an old English tractor company called county. If it’s a 4 cylinder the tractor was probably a county 794. They were then converted to these snowblowers in Quebec Canada.

Also pretty sure the cummins powers the blower and the ford engine just powers the tractor like it used to when it was a tractor

Another great video. We lived in Montreal in the mid 70s, one of those machines actually chewed half of my mother's white 60s VW Beetle that was buried to past it's roof. The city workers had no ideal it was there under the massive snow pile. We heard a huge racket, went outside and the guys were scratching their heads, said sorry, and continued on with their work day like nothing happened. Awesome power in those things.

When you and your team saved several people during a huge snowfall, I commented to you that you would need this kind of machine. I'm so glad to see you've finally thought about it. It's awesome! If it does not cause you mechanical problems, you will save dozens of lives during the next storms because this machine literally eats up large piles of snow in seconds. Cheer ! I'm from Quebec, I see these machines very often in winter.

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec... These machines are everywhere there, and are honestly feared. Also from Montreal, I think these things were powerful enough to eat a car if it was buried in a snowbank. no way to stop it in time to prevent destruction. The old snowblower is based on a County 754 (or possibly 764, depending on the year of built?). County Tractors was a UK based company, that converted Ford tractors (in this case a Ford 5000 2wd) into a 4wd. In the days Ford didn't supply 4wd as an option yet. Each front wheel has a seperate drive shaft taken from the rear axle. This results in a low centre of gravity and great grip, but also in a slightly bigger😊 turning circle. Since the tractor is for quite some part based on a Ford 5000, those parts should be available well. For the 4wd part: those are County parts, which can be bought at Mark Osborne (County tractors parts Ltd). The engine in the back will power the snow plow. In the first versions, this was a 6 cylinder Ford engine (about 100 HP). County tractors are highly collectable tractors in Europe especially in the UK. I have a County 754 myself. The Ford gearbox is a Select-o-Speed. Basically the predecessor of the powershift. Although it doesn't have a too well reputation in Europe, the 10 speed forward and 2 speed reverse gearbox is not that bad, as long as maintenace is done properly, which was less necessary with the Ford tractor manual gearbox. Might be the reason most European farmers prefered the manual gearbox. For the snowplow, the SOS-gearbox is perfect! Many Ford tractors in the US were supplied with a SOS-gearbox, altough most of them were lighter tractors. To transport the snow blower with a Select-o-Speed gearbox, please put the selector in Neutral to prevent damages to the gearbox, which could be pretty expensive. If you have any questions about the Ford or County part, just let me know. Kind regards from The Netherlands

Also can't forget about the lever on the differential to unlock the rear end if you got to move it dead. ( I believe its on the right side, but it's been a few years since I've seen my dad's ford 4200 high crop tractor) when my dad bought the tractor, it had been sitting for about 10 years and we didn't know to much info about the select-o-speed transmission yet. Plus the area where the lever was packed in oil and dirt so we couldn't find it at 1st. The guy towing the tractor for us almost completely smoked his clutch on his 1 ton f-350 tow truck trying to pull it. Then we found the lever a while later and it was much easier to move after😅

I worked with these VOHL blowers for decades. We would mount them on various articulating front end loaders. Using the chute, I could load a tandem dump truck in less than a minute and a tri-axle in about 90 seconds. Also, if you REALLY want to move snow, turn the drum away to bypass the chute and have at 'er! Also, make sure to put shear pins on the main shaft. Just a friendly warning though, I can't tell you how much fun it is (NOT) to change shear pins in blowing snow at -40 degrees!! Those days I don't miss. LOL 😱
@pumptruckjim
@pumptruckjim Жыл бұрын
I have driven one of the Vohle blowers. They are almost impossible to turn but are an absolute beast when running. If I remember the front engine runs the tractor and the rear engine runs the blower unit. The blower drive train has numerous sheer pins on it. The tractor engine has a button on the dash to make it start easier. I think its some sort of decompression or oil pressure bypass. If you wind it up there is a way to bypass the output chute and just blow the snow directly out the side. Like I said its an absolute beast when running.

I agree with some of the others. The farm tractor machine is based on a Ford 5000,s maybe a 5200. We had a 5000 with that Select- O-Speed transmission and the one thing I can tell you is to only use the Ford brand fluid for that transmission. We tried using generic fluid and had nothing but trouble. As long as we ran the Ford brand oil for the Select-O-Speed transmission we were OK

This was a good deal for both sides. Heavy got a lot of good equipment that he can sell or use. The seller got his lot emptied which was he required to do. Got money for it and didn't have to pay someone for junk removal.

HeavyD, One of those New Holland tractors with a rear mounted forestry winch and a front loader would give your crew a lot more flexibility on recoveries.

I live near cody Wyoming just outside Yellowstone about 75 miles. I work in a machine/welding shop. We service the blowers they use to plow the beartooth highway almost 10' of solid snow some years. And yes something that has 2 Cummins engines is for sure ready to party. One drives the machine and the other drives the blower absolutely insane how much power these things put out and just how much snow they can move.

My son did snow removal on the highways around Lake Tahoe. He loved driving the big snow blowers along the Emerald Bay highway. He would really be excited about going to work. Also drove the snow plows on highway 50 over Echo Summit.

Dave .. it's a Ford County 4x4 tractor made by a company in the UK that adapted Ford tractors to make them 4x4 ... The make the steer you have to use the two brake pedals like a skid steer ..

HeavyD, Diesel Dave, Hans...cool deal, cool units, cool video. We can't wait to see that Vohl snowblower all serviced, resto-modded if needed and moving a LOT of snow this coming winter for someone...maybe you can video your crew helping people in the mountains if we have a hard winter again. 👍💪

Good times and a great deal. I'm figuring about a third of the purchase price covers just the tire chains.
