Here in Belgium, you have to do 6 years of medical school then you do 5 years of anesthesia/intensivist (they go together, you become an anesthesiologist AND intensivist so you don’t have to do 1+ year intensivist) Sory for my level in english😖! Thanks

Hi Javarri! Yes - the equivalent to a travel RN job is locums for doctors [which is paid out as a 1099]. There are always tons of locums positions available for anesthesiologists, but the hospitals that these types of positions are available at may be chronically understaffed or have underlying challenges that may pose threats to safe patient care. That's the risk with taking on some of these types of positions [same goes for travel RN positions; sometimes these positions are in very well-staffed types of places, other times, they are in less-resourced areas].

If you're asking if critical care anesthesiologists can discharge patients from the ICU, the answer is yes, though this has only become a trend more recently when we have had capacity issues due to staffing shortages. Anesthesiologists typically do not handle discharge of surgical patients from hospitals.
