Hey guys, just wanted to clarify that the people behind the table in the second video of the Rayquaza box had NOTHING to do with the resealed box. Saw tons of comments on my own video about them but the seller who opened the box for some reason decided he wanted to open it there.
@jamesw987322 күн бұрын
I really dont get the logic of tracking a box back to it's original owner. The chain will always end with someone buying the box from a legitimate source. Any one person in the chain could've opened and resealed the box... I really dont get the logic that it must be the first person in the chain who's the guilty party
@Faber0k21 күн бұрын
The reason it's good to know the chain, is becauze usually each person takes pictures of their new grail that's acquired. Eventually the pictures are going to look different. Its just about having as much info as possible to be able to find out where the weak link is.
@INHUMANENATION21 күн бұрын
I think it's logical to begin at the beginning is all. Then you can follow the provenance up until you got it. I do fully appreciate your point but I also appreciate that these are typical hot takes off the cuff that don't exactly follow along a linear path of reason. Usually when asked though, people would take the time to better elaborate that they don't mean to imply the only weak spot would be the first person. Just that they were the person to introduce the product into the sealed market.
@jeannedark9421 күн бұрын
Because there were 2 resealed items together, so if they trace it back to who was the first person who bought both items, that's very likely the person who resealed them. Otherwise it would have to mean someone bought 2 resealed boxes from other, separate people then sold them again, together, which is unlikely
@CoreyFromMinnesota21 күн бұрын
It's literally a paper trail. It starts with one person noticing that there is something wrong with the product. Say you paid $1,000 for an advertised factory sealed box of cards. But you don't want to open it. You want to resell it locally or online to make a few dollars. Nothing wrong with that at all. That is actually one of the biggest reason this is an issue. So, let's go to the resell. I don't care if you are an eBay seller with 10k 5 star reviews, or this may be one of your first items you put up for sale. It doesn't matter. If you sell a fake it will come back to you in the chain of possession, and if you don't have any reason for why that box was fake and can't come up with who you purchased it from...it's going to be a bad look for you... and you're more than likely going to have to give the money back and ultimately be the one who swallows the loss. Then the flip side. This is more obvious and immediate, but I think it is a worthy point. Say you just spent $1,000 on a box you were planning on breaking open on a stream, with some friends, hell even by yourself. You start smelling glue, the wrap is too thick, the box pulls ways didn't give with the usual cripness. There's something wrong. Oops, you bought a tampered and resealed pack. This was described as a "factory sealed" box. Oh no what do I doooo? Oh. I have proof of who I purchased it from. I am going to put the process in place to correct this. I have proof of who I received the product from. Does this prove that they were the ones that tampered with the product? No, not at all. But now the ball is in their court, the heat is on them, and they should easily be able to provide the previous seller's info and that ball of heat is now in another court. And so on until things get pinpointed. Nobody wants to lose money on something they thought was out of their life weeks, months, or maybe years ago. They will dig deep to gather records and provide their source. So yeah it is pretty important. I mostly buy just online a lot nowadays. I live in the third biggest city in my state and we only have one actual TCG shop that is on it's last leg. Go figure. So, I have all of my receipts logged conveniently in my emails, and the few singles that I have picked up I have asked for separate receipts to conveniently slip into my toploaders outside the sleeve. Ask for separate receipts while purchasing singles of anything toploader worthy from a shop, really. Any shop worth walking into should be used to that request. Some people may not have an understanding of Pokemon, the hobby, or the investment. Regardless, fraud is fraud, and laws are laws. These scams cost honest people thousands of dollars and deserve to be prosecuted to the fullest extent and at least have the long arm of the law to slap them with misdemeanor or felony that they deserve. Keep your receipts, and keep collecting. Most importantly, keep it honest, and keep it fun. 👍

This has been an issue since skyridge. People caught on very quickly about resealing shit. It’s only gotten bad since gen 6/7, and now anything worth a a grand sealed has a very high likelihood of being faked or resealed or both. Your only odds at proven unsealed packs is pre 2000 graded base set first edition packs. Before 2000 people didn’t weigh packs. If you don’t want to gamble on the authenticity then don’t buy it.

Sealed products are something you have to buy with caution. Even retail stores explicitly state TCG cards are a final sale item because of this very issue. It doesn’t matter who you bought the pack or box from, the fact of the matter is you cannot prove who exactly opening the box and resealed it, therefore your request for a refund is denied. If you don’t like it then don’t buy old sealed products it’s that simple. The way to minimize this going forward is to buy from the Pokémon center. Anyone who’s been selling in TCG space for more than a few years understands this, this is why old expensive vintage boxes rarely change hands because there is to much money on the line for the chances of it being opened and sorted.
@VinnyDoesLife21 күн бұрын
Sealed investor's will have such a hard time selling the hoards of product in the future just because of buyers being skeptical. Anytime an item hits $2k+ the buyer pool becomes a lot smaller and selling becomes a headache. All the sealed hoarders say *"I plan on holding for 5-10 years"...* lmao.

At least this guy opened the boxes at the show and was able to get his money back. The worst part of this video is that the resealer could have been the guy in the video, or it could be any number of people who had the box before him.
