yea, when I got to the top of the volcano and looked around I thought "this is a downgrade." Everywhere else looks great though! Wonderful use of the particles in the air.

Graphically, I'm not feelin' it in this vid. They added haze/mist... I've seen some other videos which make it look somewhat more tempting though. I think the UE5 version just has too much depth of field blur, and motion blur. Looks better up close on the ground. Also the mist effect is a bit too strong. Generally that's the sign of a game which is trying desperately to load in lower textures in the distance to try to gain fps, and hiding it.

It's just lots of fog, maybe to add mysteriousness? There are a lot of lore pieces on the island after all, and im sure there are some that dont know what the island actually is

Am I the only one who thinks the older graphics are cleaner, prettier, and more realistic? The water reflections are beautiful, in the old one. The clouds and blue skies are breath taking.. in the old one. The new one left the fog machine on and the water had less reflections on it. Blurry, smoggy, no longer beautiful. Wth.

True, it's way cleaner before. But some like more atmosphere etc. Guess it feels differently when playing than only by watching on youtube.

Please do Ark Ascended low graphics vs Ark Evolved max graphics. Cause Ark ascended runs at low as good Ark evolved runs at max.

definitely! I feel like the atmospheric particle effects are probably the biggest thing. It may not look like a lot, but it's always there, changing the perception of everything we look at from long distance.

Is the entire point of the game is to survive and also what console can you play this game or is it on pc

only PC is out now. Console was delayed a bit. The point is survival, crafting, exploration, base building, dinosaur taming, and ultimately taking on boss fights. There's PVE and PVP modes, but I prefer PVE

Ark: Survival Ascended is, for the most part, an overhaul of the graphics of its predecessor, Ark: Survival Evolved. As the name implies, it's a great survival game with great mechanics and evolution in the game. The beginning is like in the stone age (even before I would say), but at the end, you can have such futuristic gears that you feel like a god in this world. I mean, Rocket Laucher, futuristic pieces of armors with a Jetpack. You can put Lasers on T-Rex ! I mean, the list goes on... But BEWARE - The game isn't stable at the time of release. Many people are reporting crashes after crashes and that the game isn't optimized for pc. If you are really curious about that game, I wouldn't pay the full price, but wait for a sale. Or buy the original, because it's more stable and the graphics are still okay in 2023 (in my opinion).

Games graphics are borderline the same, ark survival ASScended just has lots of mist and everything is hella bright. Oh, and the foliage

yea, right now it still crashes a bit much. I'd wait for them to sort that out and maybe get a DLC map or two in, but it definitely feels like an improved version of the original

I’m sorry but it looks bland and less clean. I’m playing it and it’s all a clay/light brown color. So the lava looks cooler. The rest is desert dirt brown. lol

I get what you mean. Hopefully this is a starting point. I think there's a lot they can do on extinction with the particle/weather effects to really make extinction feel much rougher.

Honestly, I feel like the graphical aspect of the remaster is cool, but not really needed. The UI changes have been pretty great tho. It's going to make base building and tame management so much easier!

@NigiriandRune Indeed. I just think the Ark community go way overboard with how "good" the game looks. Yes it's a big upgrade to ASE but if you take a dive outside of the Ark sphere you will realize that ARK isn't the best looking game in the world but that isn't why we love the game. The building stuff is the key selling point here, so much better.

If it is only the graphics that have been overhaul, it's a pass for me... but if they upgraded the A.I. and the gameplay, I might check it further in time. The problem with those upgraded graphics are that it makes the game WAY MORE demanding in terms of gpu's power.. Even a 1000$ graphic card cannot run the game properly without DLSS and Frame Generation (or similar tech for AMD owners) I really liked the original game tho ! I hope they will optimize this game better. Edit: It's a great idea you had, comparing both. New contents are always welcome ! 😁👍

They have updated the gui and gameplay too what are you talking about it's not just graphics that's just the centerpiece if the sales because its the firs thing you notice plus new dinos on here

there's a lot of small changes. The graphics are definitely the most noticeable, but there's significant quality of life changes in the UI. For instance, now if I want to build a wall with a door in it, I just craft a wall. Then when I place the wall, I can pick the wall with a door hole in it. Lots of small things like that. If you're on the fence about it, I'd recommend waiting a month or two and seeing how they handle the current crashing issues. It sounds like most people are averaging around 1 crash per hour.

@@NigiriandRune thank you for your reply mate. I've watched many videos yesterday, and effectively there is more change than only the graphics overhaul. I hope they will optimize this new engine, because right now I can't run it, even if I bought my new pc last year. 🙄

@@yan3066 what? The complete building system is new. Tons of QoL changes, new game mechanics like wild Baby dinos, cross platform modding, story DLC later for free, new Dinos for the old maps, alot of Physics, new Animations and AI changes and so on. There is so much more than just Graphics.
