After blistering coverage in the likes of the Hollywood Reporter and US business magazine Forbes, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking to reset their brand, but have they become too toxic? That’s the question asked by the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English on Palace Confidential.
She takes aim at the pair’s ‘very arrogant statement’ about their future plans ‘that they’ve done the last of their lookback projects now - ie the ones that are attacking the royal family - and now it’s all about looking forward,’ she tells our royal talk show. ‘But in doing what they’ve done they’ve lost so much credibility, there’s a lot for them to claw back. And it will be really interesting to see how toxic they are or not as a brand.’

For years, I have grown to love, respect, and admire both the Prince and Princess of Wales, for their love and loyalty to their families and service to the people of Great Britain and the Commonwealth. The whole point of the ad was to have a running gag that Meghan does every job at the office. I agree it’s getting publicity, but does anyone want to buy the product? In Sweden, they have a law that states that in order to stay in the Swedish Order of Succession, the person needs to be raised in Sweden and can only live in another country for five years (or less). So that's a way to limit the British succession to people living and/or raised in the United Kingdom. I do think that's important because obviously the sovereign represents the United Kingdom and should be intimately familiar with British life. ETA: A peerage is different than the title of 'The Princess Royal'.

🙏 UK Parliament regulates Sovereignty so it would be logical that similar rules apply. UK Counsellor of Estate must be a Resident which Harry is not. This must be a Royal Parliamentary concern. Moreover UK Monarchy is Head of Commonwealth but not absolute. Any alteration in the law of Succession, Royal Style and Titles require the assent of 15 Parliaments & Realms. It is frustrating to see many comments on weak King Charles remove Titles! when Monarch & Parliament are bound by UK & International laws.

The question is, what have Megain and Hairless produced themselves after signing entertainment contracts worth $100,000,000+ more than two years ago? Little to nothing. And the things they have produced were completed by others. Even the things their charity claims as their good works were initiated, implemented, and completed by the organizations they included in their report put there to cause the reader to assume their charity had initiated and fully funded the project. Contrast, however, to the treatment that Meghan Markle received - the late Queen changed the rules to allow Prince Harry to marry a divorcee in a church of England ceremony. A privilege that was not, incidentally, extended to either Prince Charles nor Princess Anne when they remarried. How you imagine this was her being treated badly, given then expense to the public purse is a mystery.
