reposting a comment to be pinned @garybrown9062 commented "I also ride motorcycles and a bicycle. I feel much safer in traffic on my motorcycle as I flow with the traffic. I cruise 25-30 kph on my bicycle and still feel in the way at times and not safe. Can’t imagine how much more dangerous it would be to ride a quad or SXS half the speed limit on the shoulder. That’s just traffic. Then add children and animals that would have zero room for a mistake of stepping off of their property. Great idea improperly legislated. Back to the drawing board on this one."

NB TOWNS have Designated Roads use for ATV/UTV. You can't drive them on Highways but alot of secondary roads are now legal. Most Atv/UTV can drive the posted speed limit and we use hand signals if not equipped with them. It isn't a problem here. So why the big deal down there.. Drive down the street like your in a car at the posted speed limit.... whats the problem with common sense and governments.

The town of Oxford NS has allowed atv/utv traffic from 1 end of town to the other. They just passed the bi-law as of recent. As long as the rig is legal for the trails we can drive down the main streets. Allows town drivers to get to trails safely without having to truck or trailer.

@@YesSirCumberland i assume this is to connect trails to by pass the town the same as Shelburne is doing here, so one day ATV’s will be able to circle the province as they can in NFLD. It’s still a work in progress, here but it’s a huge step we’ve been waiting on. West side of town trail is still closed to atvs, I’m not sure why, but town opening before the trail I think is an effort to get the province to speed up the process as it has been approved, but it’s out of town limits. The east side of town trail is open to ATVs but only goes about 5km then there’s a closed 200’ long bridge with no safe legal way around that is supposed to be getting replaced at some point. When that’s done ATVs will finally be able to pass through shelburne county legally.

@ScotianOff-Road yes it's to connect 2 sections of the trails. Gas station end - large parking/ meeting area. It's a new thing, only a few months old. It's no shorter to drive thru town then down the trail to the gas station. Just easier for the town members to connect to the trail.

@ oh so you can pass through Oxford and just stay on the trail if you choose? The rail bed in shelburne is a designated walking trail. No ATVs so this was the solution to allow ATVs to pass through town. At least in Oxford some of the businesses should benefit from the road being open to atvs. People gotta gas up, people gotta eat, people need a place to stay when circling the province by atv.

I think with the discussion of a speed increase on the roadway, tires will have to be the discussion, ATV/UTV tires aren't designed to drive on asphalt, so evasive maneuvering will be s sticking point when arguing the point. Also, the type of mv liability insurance you possess
@ScotianOff-Road
@ScotianOff-Road 16 күн бұрын
@@pete8010 I hear you there. Imo doing 50km/h through town in a straight line should’t be a problem for anyone on any tires imo. Lord knows I’ve drove atleast double that speed on pavement a few times with these itp cryptids. It’s just from “here to there” not like we’re doing a road trip across the province. I don’t pretend to know about liability insurance, but I would assume if we’re covered to be on the road doing 25km/h, unpredictably bobbing in and out of traffic, we must be covered to drive in a straight line at the same speed as traffic. Appreciate your comment, thanks for watching.
