That comment about something to care about is spot on mate. Lost my hair very young took it on the chin after a year of hair loss decided to grow my beard out. I enjoy having a grooming routine again I grow my beard for myself, not for anyone else.

I would also add that beards - especially larger ones - are a masculine identifier that signal maturity and virility (whether true or not!) and commands a measure of respect from both men and women. Thanks for posting!

I definitely think beards are ON trend at the moment. My barber said to me recently, "Just look when you walk down the street. At the moment everyone is growing a bit of something." I don't think they are a trend though. I for one haven't grown one because they're fashionable, and won't be getting rid of it as and when fashions change. Like you say, I'm sure the bearding community will all feel the same about that. Long live the beard.

I think for some people, growing a beard was a bit of a fashion statement. Some people thought that if you had a beard you were a “hipster” For those of us who have had beards pre pandemic and kept them long after, having a beard is definitely more a way of life. Great vid!!

Great video! Thanks for sharing! I’ve had a full beard now for 6 years and before that had various iterations of facial hair. Always well groomed! Beards have certainly gone through eras of popularity. We currently in one of those eras. That said, I always thought that beards were masculine and once I could grow one I did. So whether the beard is trendy or not, who cares because I think it masculine and classy. I’ll always have one, but not because it’s trendy!

Gotta comment about the job bit. I was hired on by a former company who had a no beard policy, but allowed mustaches and sideburns like the military. So I shaved to be hired. They came around to allowing beards. Was supposed to be a certain length and I always went a little beyond that. I was always trimmed and clean looking. 11 yrs I left due to having a daughter born with special needs and needing to be home daily vs being gone during the week and now my beard is a bit over a yr and still not looking good and not disheveled.

Hey mate Firstly good on you for taking care of your daughter. With the beard it can take a very long time for them to grow and settle to a good form. Even at my stage it goes through stages of growth where it get kind and curls where it doesn’t usually. Do you mind me asking what you do not like about your beard?

@@beardmanners as I reread my comment I saw that I had a typo. Meant to type something along the lines of my beard is bit over a yr growing and still looks good, but not disheveled. In answer to your question that you asked made me think and the main thought I kept coming back to is the wave/dip at my chin. I’ve tried heat and tension to get it to go away and nothing seems to work. I’m starting to accept it now but if it still irritates me a bit.

Beards aren't a fad or a trend. *Shaving was the fad.* What we are seeing is the end to the shaving fad. A fad is a movement where people participate largely due to social pressure counter to their own preferences: with shaving many schools, employers, and associates either demanded men shave or used other means to do it. Meanwhile we're supposedly in the middle of a beard fad, but where are the social demands to grow them? No employer or school requires it, and many (ie women) apply social pressue to look like their smooth Ken dolls. In the past decade strangers have initiated the same conversation with me countless times: "I'd love to grow a beard but my employer/wife/gf won't *allow* it". I have never encountered the reverse. These all confirm shaving to be the fad, and now that that fad is dying men are no longer being pressured to confirm to Gillette's standards. Is it any wonder Gillette hates men anymore? The parties that view bearding as a fad push articles in the media about beards being a fad, how peak beard is done, how beards are out etc. This is because these periodicals are largely written by people in urban areas who live and breathe to conform to fads. To them, making a decision based on your own personal opinion is an alien concept.
