Are Beatbox Shoutout Videos Still Relevant?

Beatbox shoutout videos have been the predominant form of beatboxing content over the last decade, but given how much beatboxing and the internet have evolved, are they even still relevant?
Today I am going to talk about whether or not beatbox shoutout videos are dead, the pros and cons of filming a beatbox shoutout, why I personally won't film any more shoutouts myself, and what kind of content the beatboxing community should start to produce more of.

I feel like shoutouts are being phased out in favor of other forms of content with larger named beatboxers that draw in more views consistently. Also like you said, people are able to get their own name out there better, especially during beatbox events/challenges where people can search KZbin with the hashtags to find video submissions easily.

I agree with nearly every point. 1 point I would like to clarify is the creative control of posting your own content to someone else's platform: many times the platforms would appreciate you investing more resources to provide a higher quality production (like Kickback and BBU) 👍🏻

Oh of course they would! The higher the quality, the better the video will perform! It just all comes down to if posting your content on another platform has enough benefits to out weigh it being on your own platform. For BBU those were some of the highest quality videos, but none of those videos were on the creators own accounts. BBU paid per round though, so that might have covered the costs and being apart of BBU did provide a lot of exposure.

ever since BBXINT stopped their shoutouts, more vlog-type and reaction-type content has dominated the scene... idk whether to be happy or sad, bc we got some really cool stuff out of shoutouts!

Shoutouts were definitely awesome and reactions are for sure dominating right now! Beatbox International still upload some shoutouts but have shifted towards the more collaborative content!

Well said brother. I think this is a super healthy direction for beatbox to evolve in, not everyone in the "scene" is trying to confine their beatboxing to the typical styled videos that the bigger channels have been pushing for so many years. We are seeing people like you, MrWobbles, Colaps and so many more that continue to push the boundaries of beatboxing content. Omegle videos, challenge videos, and even tiktoks have shown to provide refreshing forms of entertainment for the beatbox world - which is why I think they have gotten so popular over recent years. Keep branching out homie, you're building the foundation for the new era - and inspiring us all!

when i first found beatbox in 2018 -2019 , Shoutouts were popular but over next 2 years after ( 2020-2021 ) they started to slow down and then international stopped doing them , which makes sense ,what would be the point of uploading something to your channel that kinda died off and like seeing all the new stuff like collabs and that , that people like yourself are coming up with these dope crazy beatbox content ideas but im excited for the next year of beatbox ( also merry Christmas and happy new year ) ❤❤

From my viewpoint, beatboxers do not need shoutouts to make it big anymore. A few insane Discord battles or a really crazy good wildcard is enough. Heck I'm seeing some of these 'online beatboxers' pulling the millions on TikTok. And I think this also goes to GBB and/or world champs. The reason a lot of big names aren't returning is because they've already made a breakthrough in many different ways. When you're someone like Wawad you'd only ever enter such a competition for fun and for the sake of earning the title "world champ", "gbb champ", etc. Amazing video, great insights you shared and I'm glad to see videos discussing certain things in the beatbox scene like this. Would love to see more of this!

@@damnsonalabanca420 Not exactly "online" but beatboxers that aren't very well known and somewhat fresh to the scene (Freakquency, Balistix, SyJo, just to name a few)

Really glad you liked this! I am interested in producing more content like this for sure! With the reach that short form video content provides now, it really only takes a few lucky videos to pop off and grow a following! Totally agree with big name beatboxers taking a step back to focus on their own brands. Why put money towards traveling to a battle (other then for fun) when you could produce a high quality video with it, ya know?

@parkerbeatbox I think too but napom beats are overused like every year with same liproll shi+ just different pattern he should add some more sounds and otoh river has used a lot of diff sounds which kinda makes him unique there are lot of things that matters

The issue is shoutouts don’t even get views anymore… I remember a few years ago, I’d watch all of swissbeatbox’s daily videos, be super inspired by them and theyd average at least 60k + views per vid with pretty frequent bangers that did over 100k. Since like 2 years ago i think i just stoped watching the shoutouts, idk why, maybe they were just getting stale and overdone or stopped being super exciting and high quality, maybe I just didnt have time ti watch them but i know others were similar to me because this year they started averaging 2-3k views per video every day. At this point, youre not even getting a platform by doing a shoutout becayse you could probably get the same amount or even more views on your own channek if you market it correctly. They hella fell off no doubt about it.

They still can pull views, but consistantly they are lower for sure. I agree, I used to watch Swiss's daily uploads but daily uploads of the same content will eventually get stale at some point. Got to change things up ya know?
