My thoughts exactly if you've supported blues for over 50 years as I have then you'll remember all of the times you've effed it up , we won the cup and got relegated from the prem ,how blues was that , we got taken over by a so called multi millionaire from china who turned out to be a total crook ending up doing jail time ,how blues of him . We finally get great owners and what do they do ? Sack a decent manager Employ Rooney end up relegated ,again only at blues! So I'm crossing everything that this time it works
@mikewilson8513Ай бұрын
61 years me ! I agree with everything you said. But I really think we are going places now. I was very wary of American owners. How can they "get" footie ? And when they signed Rooney, my heart sank. But to be fair, I do think they beginning to understand football, and the culture, and not "soccer" With a state of the art new stadium being planned, and a willingness to invest the millions needed to get us to the top, I think we are in safe hands at long last.

When the fixtures were released I looked at this run of Wigan, Wrexham, Rotherham, Peterborough, Huddersfield, Charlton, Lincoln & Bolton as about as tough as League One could offer, and I thought early days it's going to be really tough with such a high squad turnover. It might still be - we're only 3 games into it - but we're looking to have gone up a gear in the last 2 games. Wigan and the games before that our quality was just showing out without looking mightily impressive, but Wrexham and Rotherham we stepped it up a gear and I think there's more yet to come. Whether that'll be enough to see every opponent off, I doubt it, and we will drop points, but if we can pick up 6/7 points from the next 3 that'd be absolutely fantastic. It's easy to say "well he's got the best side in the division comfortably..!" but a lot of credit has to go to Chris Davies for how quickly he's got us going. Dropping points was always going to come earlier rather than later, and so to start with such a bang is absolutely fantastic. We will go on at least 1 poor run this year, but we can set ourselves up really nicely if we can stay around the top 2 in the next month. Promotion still the expectation - how it's achieved and where we finish is all just a bonus.

It's funny that. After the international break, we had the following run ahead of us: Wrexham, Rotherham, Peterborough, Huddersfield and Charlton. And I said to a friend that IF we are top after this run, there is a good chance we will not relinquish the position until the end of the season.
@FutureIsBlue-tq1xyАй бұрын
The football we are playing is the best I've ever seen us play. I'm absolutely amazed at the squad we have assembled when players like Alfie May, Marc Leonard and Lyndon Dykes are on the bench. Last year we had kids coming off the bench. The ground is back to full capacity and absolutely rocking. What the owners have done in such a small time is amazing. It has been a very tough 13 years of watching us live a hand to mouth existence. All those protests to get rid of the hated previous owners has finally come to fruition. Over a hundred million of debts cleared, the ground rebuilt with a 60000 stadium in the wings, massive sponsorship deals and a team to be proud of. The positivity around the place instead of the doom and gloom is simply wonderful. I know there are supporters of other teams who are jealous of us now but I wouldn't wish the shit we've been through to befall any other club (not even the Villa). Before the takeover the women's team was reportededly on minimum wage and Craig Gardner was buying footballs for training with his own money. They were also planning on closing our academy which has provided the world with Jude Bellingham. Also half the ground was closed because the owners hadn't maintained them and didn't have the money to repair it. I don't think there would have been a Birmingham City if we'd have got relegated under them. Scary thoughts indeed. So far I haven't seen any other team in league 1 which can in all honesty live with us. Reading, Wycombe and Orient gave us good games though it was early season before the players had bedded in and were getting used to the style of football. I think we'll actually get better the more the team plays together. Still it's a long season and nobody is counting any chickens yet. We know every other team will raise their game versus us. What will be will be. Hopefully we can do an Ipswich. KRO.

Famous last words here, i think there are a few teams this year who can make it tough for blues and slow our momentum in a game v us but over the course of the season I dont see a single team who i think have the staying power to go the distance and take the title from us. We've barely got out of secons gear for most the season and we have been comfortable . Credit Posh today, probably the best side we have faced so far but even then we gifted them goals and come back to take the points, by the end of the game we were comfortable

I’m a blues fan and I’m writing some days after this broadcast with 2 of the games (6 of the points you focus on) in the bag. But I just wanted to say the tone of your comments is very fair. So good stuff. As a blues fan who went to his first game c1969 I can’t help but be pensive but, this team is very good. And if you listen to the coach he is very likeable, sensible and intelligent. With a bit of luck he has it in him to be extremely successful. And blues should be a powerhouse in the premier league. Second city, huge fan base and presently rich owners. Clever people , spent money this year to build a squad good enough to get us into the championship and also with one or two additions get us into the premier league . What they have done at St Andrews is fantastic , in 5 or 6 years a new ground costing over a billion plus revenue has more than doubled in 12 months ! As a Barnsley fan, we aren't firing on all cylinders yet so the fact we are up there in 3rd spot with only the one defeat is promising. We have seem glimpses of quality going forward but still look shaky at the back and may need to address that in the transfer window. Hopefully we continue to improve and secure a top 2 finish. Birmingham will be very hard to compete with due to spending literally bottom end premier league transfer money in League 1. Probably will lead to buying the league which I'm not sure as a fan of the game takes the gloss off any promotion. Be interesting to review come January where teams are.

We replaced 17 players with 17 others. Allsop, Peacock Farell free, May, Leonard, Iwata, Wright, Dykes, Yokoyama under £1m, Cochrane £1m, Hansson £2m, Klarer £2.5m, Willumson £3m, Stansfield £10m+, Sampsted (loan), Gardner Hickman (loan), Davies (loan). We released a lot of players out of contract including Hogan, Gardner and Marc Roberts and sold Koji Miyoshi, Jordan James, Alex Pritchard, Sriki Dembele and Junhino Bacuna for roughly £12m. I really dont want to be over confident. But there is really no one in that league can beat Birmingham. Wrexham were a possibility. But they were taught a lesson a couple of games ago. Although I do think they will finish as runners up. (to us) The quality of the side is far and away light years away from the rest of league one. I think we spent more on Stansfield than the rest of the league one spent in total. On top of that, we have a first class manager, who has learned his trade under big clubs and managers before coming to St Andrews. I was wary of American owners, And when they appointed Rooney, my heart sank. But I think they get 'footie' and the football culture now. We have a superb new stadium and first class facilities planned for the very near future. As I said I was very wary of US involvement, but, apart from Rooney, i am impressed and the future's looking good. Very good.

Think the thing is we've spent a lot more money than those clubs and seemingly spent it really well. Lots of quality in that side, our backups are of very good quality too. Against Rotherham we were missing Bielik (Captain), Laird, Sanderson, Harris, Buchanan.. May had an illness too so didn't start, yet it looked very comfortable still. Injuries will plague every team, we should be one of the least impacted by them because of the sheer quality in depth we have. It's not an exaggeration to say this squad is miles better than what we had last season. And that squad shouldn't have really got relegated, they went down due to poor management not a lack of individual quality. It'll be tough, football is football and we'll hit a poor run or two and the test will be how we bounce back from that. If we pass that test when it comes, we'll win the league I've no doubt about it.
