Are Bond Only Accounts Worth It in Old School Runescape 2024

i took a 1yr break and bond sky rocket this much.. i grinded my way out of f2p when they were going for 6mil in like 2020, but if i was a new player starting now i'd be so undetermined to grind for a bond. But im still a bonds only account nun the less I dont spend money on bonds

Same for me, including same time period. Although I do think that for f2p players it's harder to buy a bond now, It's not 2-3x harder, as gold as also inflated a bit. Maybe it's 1.5-2x as hard max.

Playing using bonds means you are stuck earning money to keep a float. Bonds keep going up on both OSRS and RS3 which means bonds are for higher level pvmers.

i have done this the entire time, since bonds were released. I do take breaks, it can be stressful. However, it is exceptionally rewarding getting end game upgrades and playing in a gold oriented fashion. It pushes you to play economically and i believe this trait will help you in the real world as well. AFK activities such as nightmarezone are exceptionally helpful towards the two week grind, using miscellania is another one, daily herb runs at least twice per day in combination with endgame PvM can leave you making an average of 40-60m over a two week period, little RNG required.

I remember when bonds were ~2.5m. I had a cooking alt and was able to keep two accounts (cooking account, and main) in membership with that account cooking in the background while I was running Vorkath, or doing quests or something on my main. I miss being able to do that

TBH I got back into OSRS semi-recently (about 3ish months ago) back when bonds had just broken the 10mil mark. For me, going F2P to bond was a personal goal of mine because I always wanted to do it. From there, I wanted to try and bond only my account and so far, even with the inflation, its been doable. I'm about to hit the first time where I earned enough to have bought 2 bonds before my 2 weeks expire, and get that first +1 day for free with the upcoming month of membership. It's now just become the way I play, and it works for me. But I can understand why some people would rather get right to the gameplay and forego the decent time sink it is/was to maintain an account this way.

I do feel a sense of accomplishment having my bond only account but does get boring some weeks

@xDivineStrikex my goal is to slowly steam roll my way to the 20 bond pouch (full year with 40 weeks from the bond + 12 weeks for the bulk redeem) and from there it's play the game like normal and I have a full year to earn 20x bonds. We'll see how grindy it gets but I think im still early enough that I don't mind

There are like 1000 money making methods above 500k/hr with 0 requirements or easy requirements. 28 hours isnt too hard to grind for an OSRS player lmao.

I only pure pk, in the deep wilderness(no risk fights), I only ever buy bonds, no main account. Got almost 2b and never paid a penny

I really want to play osrs on the side whenever I’m bored but I have 70m and I’m not sure how much I would actually play lol. I figured they were still like 8m the other day and when I logged in and they were over 14 I was like nahhh lol

Bonds exchange in game currancry for membership. High level pvm generates 3-20m gp per hour so for these accounts it makes sense. Unless you can generate 1m a day playing as bonds cost roughly 28m a month. For the vast majority of casual players they are not worth it. The only viable way of generating a bond from f2p is f2p risk pking. This requires a specific account to be competitive.

Honestly the 1m isn't too hard, once you can do acantoe herb runs cuz that will generate between 250k-400k per run

It really don't take long to earn a bond it's just not fun. But as soon as you have a bond your moneymakers 10x at least.

Not necessarily. You need to get your skill levels up in f2p before you can 10x as a member. Still, not hard to do, just tedious.

I know a guy that auto clicks r2hs in f2p and has like 600m in gp just for bonds. Ive seen him a few times when his auto clicker breaks and hes running around like an idiot but i guess macroings the best money maker cuz jagex wont ban them.

I am currently mid-game member, around 70 base stats. I only play using bonds as a challenge, never paid for membership. As f2p I got it by watching some of those "what to do before members" guides to level up my account, I think I bought the first bond at around 5M by doing a lot of high alching (mostly rune stuff and green d'hide) and flipping where possible Early on I did a lot of Blast Furnace. I am sitting at around 90 smithing. It gives a lot of money per hour as early member and I still fall back to it whenever I have a lot of coal from the kingdom lol Nowadays I do at least 2 or 3 herb runs per day (I'm still missing 2 herb patches). Been doing cadantine and limpwurt. I only make compost at the farming guild otherwise the herb runs take too much time IMO. A mix of herb runs + bird house + kingdom is enough to sustain a bond easily, even with bonds at 13M. Last 2 weeks I managed to save up for 2 bonds, my first time ever. So I currently have an extra bond in the bank which is a nice buffer. Aside from herb and bird house runs, I always do Kingdom (keep coal sell rest), and I don't do any skilling that requires large quantities of money (e.g. "regular" construction - and usually spend the skill lamps there) Was farming Dagganoth Rex for a while, mage with safespot, got a berserker ring drop, and imbued it at NMZ. The process of farming Rex gave me some extra cash. Slayer in general is nice, as you are leveling up your account while earning money, even if not a lot. I make sure to bring nature and fire runes while doing slayer so I can high alch. Did some GotR until I got full raiments, around 76 RC. That was also some extra cash from the runes. Next up is likely 85 fm through Wintertodt Still have Song of the Elves to do. Currently my goal is Quest Cape + all hard diaries. Only missing a few levels now.

I made a f2p pure acc, and in a month I had the acc build and had collected/merchanted 100m all from w1. 10m from pking 10m from flipping 80m from w1 ge/drop parties And with that I was able to bond up a lvl 90 combat 1000 total lvl acc, and I haven’t paid for anything since. Lookup stkx & im 73 cmb This video is true if you’re a casual, but if you play osrs at a high level, gp for bonds couldn’t be freer. TLDR; skill issue.
