I was driving the boat for Aaron while he dove for wahoo and decided to do a little jigging. My target was Bonita. Normally treated as bait, I show you that how you treat your fish makes all the difference in the world and make raw Bonita rice bowls

I love making tuna salad out of bonito. Easy to make and delicious. You don't even have to do a good filet job because the red meat comes off a lot easier once it's boiled. Nice vid!

I eat bonito all the time. I like to give it a real quick sear on the cast iron instead of the boiling trick. Usually I'll pick up some Asian stir fry sauce and drizzle it over the sliced fish.

BTW on your paper towel technique, I like to do something very similar with most of the meats that i cook. Basically a really short dry aging which pulls out the water from the meat leaving behind the protein and fat. This intensifies the flavor and allows you to get a much better crust if you're actually cooking the meat.

Bonito vs Bonita While their names sound very similar, a Bonita Fish is different from a Bonito Fish. Bonitas are also in the Scombridae family. The scientific name for Bonita Fish is Euthynnus Alletturaturs. Whereas Bonito Fish are closely related to mackerels, Bonita Fish are more closely related to tuna. Bonito we also call skipjack , Bonita we call false albacore. Always trying to keep me on my toes.

6:55 is exactly why I switch out all the hooks for quality inlines and split rings on my lures. Highly recommended. For the price of a single lure you can make all your lures safer for you to use, safer for the fish, and this will never happen again. It’s also commonly misunderstood, Bonita and bonito are different fish. Pretty sure Bonita is in the mackerel family and bonito is in the tuna/albacore family. Lots of misnaming with these fish, people call up to 6 different species of fish the interchangeable names Bonita/bonito.
