If you are interested in checking out the app, please visit the link here: www.bonsaicare.app/ Note - Collectibles are things like suiseki, display tables, books, kusamono etc. Collections are just subgroups in which you can organize your bonsai (i.e. by species, stages of development, origin location, etc). Also, when adding or updating a tree, there are a lot more optional info fields you can fill in like purchase date, price, value, height, etc. Inside the app there are multiple languages available (en, de, es, nl, it, fr, pt, ja at the moment and more will follow).

I have been using the app for a while and love it. It is so nice to have all my data and photos in one place organized per tree. I love how the photos are shown per year and you can easily compare the progression of each tree.

I think with the pro version, it would be cool if you could transfer your tree to another person. So if you sold a tree, they can effectively take on its 'service history' and photos etc. That would be really cool

This is a great idea. Have you contacted them to ask if this will be possible?

I have used it since the start, and it is very good. It is also possible to add more information about when bought who from and how much paid which you missed, although it is not too clear how to do it. Well worth the money.

I myself downloaded the app when it came out and have used it almost daily. I will say I am in no way an advanced bonsai artist. But I can say, from the perspective of a begginer/intermediate bonsai enthusiast, the app helps me a lot when it comes to keeping track of what my bonsai need and planning ahead for the future. I would definitely recommend the app. Im sure that in the future, we will get more updates to make the app better than it already is.

It seems to me that the app does not remember well in the southern hemisphere, it would be great to have a configuration so that it remembers correctly in the different hemispheres. Great app actually.

Only been using the app 3 weeks but quickly upgraded to pro version, because can only upload 5 trees on the free version, but well worth it for the price. So far it's been very useful would definitely recommend.

I’m using it (pro/paid plan) but it’s very heavy on battery usage and resources, could be improved. It would be nice to get more insights into your own collection and some visualisations. It’s a nice start but plenty of room for improvements and UX/UI. Give me a shout for a deep dive.

Bjorn, i just DLed it b/c how you provided its function and the fair critical review, all was highly appealing. Much of it, if not all at this point, has what i need that streamlines what would of been a timeSucker (in hindsight, in wake of your offering) in my now-scratched endeavor to Xcel it, lol; that is to say MSXcel. But to now, as situational awareness provides, Bonsai Care App + Bjorn mentorship + Ryan Neil -> there’s no where and nothing but to Excel in the craft and institute MY art with only 2 flavors in provenance EISEI-EN & MIRIA!

Not mentioned but what would be a useful feature would be to be able to create reports (even if only in the Pro version) of ones full collection/s that can be printed off. Even adding in a cost/ sales data feature for those who retail as well or simply how much all the resources cost as you go along. . Just a thought. I will look at this myself as I have tried to create an excel version over time and never really been happy with that I ended up with.

You can add purchase price and the estimated value for each tree and the totals are shown on your account view. Maybe they can add sold for price as well. Ask them. In my experience they always answer quickly.

I’m thinking I need some sort of embossed metal markers on my duplicate species so the numbers line up with the entries (I have the pro yearly version), and I have only a handful of each species: not 1500!

Sorry if you've answered this question before. Can you recommend a website where I can buy a starter kit that supplies to EU? I've bought one before and it just rusted so looking for a proper supplier that has a good quality beginner's kit.

If you have Amazon where you live, I found "Tianbonsai" tools to be very high quality for good price in America. They come in standard, professional and master craftsman quality with increasing prices. I started out with the standard set and loved them so much, that I started buying the professional ones to grow my set. Other than packaging and increased hardness and very minor polishing differences, standard and professional seem similar. I bought a master craftsman pruning scissor, and they are a work of art. Perfectly crafted and polished in every way. Hope this helps

I wish there was more comparison to other apps out there in this video! Been using the Mirai app that came out earlier this year and it’s been super helpful and seems to be geared more towards advanced practice and learning than this app. Would love to know your opinion on it as a professional. Based on the title I was expecting to get actual comparisons of the apps out there, whereas this kind of felt like a one sided sales pitch.
@EiseienBonsai4 ай бұрын
A sales pitch? No, it's a review of one particular app, as noted in the title.

I’m a Bonsai Mirai member and have been using their app…not a big fan… lots of info available on it, but very clunky interface to get to the info. I have 30+ years in software/hardware development and I find most apps have poorly designed ergonomic interfaces. I was using the free version of Evernote for recording my collection until they recently greatly restricted my access to it from multiple devices. It worked , for me, quite well.

The fact that you are not getting payed when you are asked to do a review is not a good thing. It's a bad thing. I understand you are trying to say that if you are not getting money, your opinion will be fair. But the whole ideea isn't fair, it's just bad, so bad.

I gave your video a like, but when I downloaded the app and test imported one of my favorite trees, a large, old bougainvillea I collected almost 30 years ago, I was dismayed to see the app recommended "Repot in early spring or late fall..." In fact, tropicals are the exceptions in bonsai, and need to be repotted in mid-summer, at the hottest time of the year. After watching your video, I checked the app to see if the errors had been corrected, but tropical repotting instructions were still wrong. A spreadsheet, supplemented with Google calendar fertilizing and pest control reminders, has worked for me. Being able to compile and view a list sorted by whatever attribute I've created (previous/upcoming styling and repotting, species, common name, ID#, etc.) is invaluable, and likely more useful for a bonsai professional caring for multiple valuable specimens. For example, I can see at a glance how many trees I'll need to repot this spring and...whoa! That many? I'm gonna be busy!

But about repoting. I have 1500 ficus trees lot of Bogenvilie too and I repot them in the beginning of fall becouse I don't want to touch roots in mid summer because they have highest growth. If you want to ticken up your tropicals, then let that repot for latest date.
