Spent 300 on a 13K pound XBull. It’s just worked every time I need it. Being an engineer I took it apart initially since I’ve seen some crappy steel gears used in China, but it’s actually pretty good stuff and cut with decent precision as well. Honestly I see Warn as bumper jewelry and had to rescue a friend of mine with one when his failed. I’m not saying they fail all the time or are a bad product in any way, just they are not infallible. At that price they pretty much need to be.

I put a piece of masking tape over each of the 4 nuts to hold them in place while putting the bolts in. If not they will fall out while putting the winch onto the mounting plate. No way can you get your fingers in there to hold the nuts. Worked for me.

Mine came with the wrong remotes. But they worked fine. I first tried using it in my garage. Get this. Every time I used the remote the little water pump in my fish tank would buzz like crazy. Funny. It buzzed Every time I pushed the buttons.

Good advise but depends on where you live. I live waaay off grid up above the snowline and up a long steep precarious trail climbing over 18,00 ft the first 3/4 Mile from.our bottom gate to drive way turn to cabin and another 1)2 Mike if even worse trail to our back Pasteur's. A winch for recovery winch is a mandate. Dandahermit

I'm pretty sure I just saw you attach your power cables to the wingnut studs in that battery. I don't think those connectors can flow the ampherage needed compared to the top post lugs?? Just saying. Not trolling. I'm waaay into Solar and wind generators and my life is all about batteries. Thanks for your rational and fair assessment. Dandahermit

Winches are a pretty basic thing. An electric motor, a gearbox and a drum. An expensive one is pretty much exactly the same but you pay more for it…

For a budget winch they are good. Cant beat the price honestly, and the one I had for the last three years has worked just fine.

Just ordered a x bull. My 800 plus dollar warn has always been in the garage or covered. After 2 years the inside of the motor completely corroded, white aluminum and green copper. Indoor use only

Firey red winch ropes are shorter than advertised and the bury in the splice is too short so they are potentially dangerous. You should at least redo the splice with the proper bury.

A couple of the bolts have rusted as they didn’t use stainless steel however keep in mind I live Hawaii near saltwater. All of these budget winches are the same, they will get the job done. My last one was 5 years old and was going strong, only reason I put the new one on was because the company sent it to me for a review.

There are no 100% sourced USA made winch’s. And the ones that are assembled in the USA cost 3 times the amount of this winch. Not much now a days is actually 100% made in the USA.
