Thank you Chris! It’s definitely quite a bargain from what I can see so far. Almost all winches are Chinese built at this point, it just seems this one doesn’t have that crazy mark up. If it fails, you guys will be the first to know!

Excellent Tyler! Dig the new intro/outro tunes too! Dang, that price point is stellar.., I’m excited to see how she does in the long run. Love that it comes with a wireless. I ended up running an in cabin winch control switch in the rig which has been a game changer when winching but having a wireless would be nice too. And I kinda dig that clutch system it has. Super excited to see where this goes! Thanks as always brother. 🤙👊🙌
@IndependenceOverland2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was in the midst of doing the same thing (cabin switch) when they reached out. Not having to fish out a wired remote and plug it in takes a lot of the hassle out. So far so good! I plan to give it hell this winter.
@vinsonw8212 жыл бұрын
Been running this exact same winch for about 2 months now, used about 3 times, on one smaller sedan and my GX twice and it's been fine. Slower than Warns and even Smitty but still functions great! Pulled the sedan uphill from a ditch with ease!
@IndependenceOverland2 жыл бұрын
Yeah my Warn was an older model so they are about the same speed. I’ve been really happy with it, even little things like cleaning the rope feels like less work when I can just grab a remote and reel my line in.

Are you still running this winch? How's it holding up for you?
@vinsonw821 Жыл бұрын
@heavenleigh111 Still holding up fine. I use it about every other month for things around the house and she still works fine. Synthetic line is holding up well in the Florida sun as well.

It’s worked really well, to the point that I might use one in my next build I have coming up as well. No issues at all, I just ran it a few days ago in anticipation of spring and even the remote batteries seem to last forever. For the price it’s insane!

Hi Tyler! Subscriber and avid watcher of your videos! I’d like to ask for some advice. I recently purchased a 2012 TTSE that’s mostly stock. My intentions are to build it out to overland, so what recommendations would you have for to start the customization of the rig to do just that? Thanks! Dave
@IndependenceOverland2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave! My biggest money and headache saving tip is wait as long as you can to do the lift. Add all the weight and extra gear, because as you modify your springs will need changed out, and with that comes other costs. Do as much as quickly as you can, and then decide on suspension. I wasted a lot of money on changing up suspension parts. If you plan to get a roof tent, go that route first! Other stuff looks cooler, but the Fj is incredibly capable stock so get out there and then start modifying to your needs! If you have questions hit me up bud, thank you for being a subscriber!

@@IndependenceOverland Thanks Tyler! I do plan on putting on steel bumpers and a roof top tent. I’m hearing a lot of FJ overlanders and lift specialist that are recommending an OME lift. What advice would you have there? Thank you again!
@IndependenceOverland2 жыл бұрын
@@davesantimaw5413 I had OME for several years. They are bulletproof. Obviously it won’t ride like a King shock, but they are very good and affordable. I think your making a solid decision.

I worked with openroad in the past with the previous version of this winch. I made some videos for them on the winch and recovery kit. Then one day they ghosted me, won't reply to messages what so ever. Have not heard from them in months. They copied my video and put it on their sight.

I've been thinking about buying an Open Road winch for my 2007 FJ and I'm glad I came across this video. I've only seen one other KZbin overlander use an Open Road, Ozark Overlanding Adventures, and Matt seems to love his. After two months of ownership, how is it holding up? This was a very informative video, and now you have a new subscriber to the channel!

You're awesome Gerald! It's good man, I am gonna go do some snow camping in January and I plan to give it hell for that trip. The winch has been a really solid setup so far. I will pin a comment to the top if I ever have issues. The current sale is pretty nuts on them. A single tire is almost more expensive haha! Thank you for subscribing sir!
