Very well done once again, Karen! Three decades ago, I would not have contemplated purchasing a page such as this - but that was because (even with great difficulty) an entire (albeit Poor or Fair) copy of AF #15 coule in fact be purchased. That is not the case now and I would have done what you did. Indeed, you have also supported such an approach through logical mathematics as well.

I agree with you completely! Yes, I'd like to own AF15 in any grade! Yes, I'd like to own a coverless or tattered AF15!! But if I have to settle (for financial reasons), I'll take a page. And YES... I hope it's the one surviving page from a completely tattered copy. I hope nobody is ripping a complete copy of this issue apart to sell it piecemeal. And, according to your data, I don't think that is happening too often. In other words, you pointed out that it is "worth it" if someone had a coverless 0.5-grade copy. So if someone has a 1.5 or a 2.0? I don't see them pulling it apart. Hence, it probably OK to buy slabbed pages and sleep at night! Thanks again, Karen!! You have given us a wonderful synopsis of this collecting option!!

Great minds think alike. 😉Thank you for making your comment about a higher grade copy of AF15, it's something that I wanted to mention in the video, but I forgot to include it. You are exactly right. Well, Great to see you back..so... 1) Very well done video...good quality 2) If you want to own a single page, that's fine...so, unless you can follow it's provenance, then you can't worry about how it came about.. 3) Those beady eyes always bothered me. 4) It's funny about AF15...when I first started getting into comics at a very young age..the 1st comic catalog I saw (and a yr or so later would order from) was Passaic Book Center in Passaic, NJ. They had ASM 1 AND AF15 both the same price...$16.00....if you wanted NM-M you had to add $8.00 They both went up later on, but were still the same. The sentiment was most collectors were run guys and AF15 was am outlier. I ended up having 1-145, but was never driven to get get AF15, as neither were my friends...maybe it was the brown cover. 😎 I sold the collection prior to College...so I wonder when the 2 started separating in price? BTW, I need to find those old catalogs so I can kick myself for not buying a load of them. I have too many stupid kid stories.

A single page is also a more affordable way to own a part of a book that is outside my price range. I agree that looking at the original page is a different experience compared to reading an omnibus. Wow, welcome back, Karen! I always wondered who would want to buy single, torn out pages from key Silver Age books. Now I know! You definitely did get the page which I think is most important though. That final panel with the iconic quote is the most meaningful part of the Spider-Man mythology that even non-comics fans today are familiar with, so it's definitely the page I'd go for if I was looking to get one. That's pretty affordable, too. I was guessing it would cost just over the 4 figure range. But yeah, the old newsprint look and feel is a world of difference from just looking at a reprint. There's no comparison. Oh, and 2:25 of hilarious outtakes? Winnah, winnah, chicken dinnah! Awesome outro, too! 😀😃😄😆😅🤣😂

Hey Karen, it’s awesome having a page. I mentioned before this is Bob in Ridgefield Connecticut. I am going to the New York comic con next Thursday.. I got very very lucky with my copies of amazing fantasy 15.. my first copy I got when I was a kid I got the book raw for only $450. My other copy I bought over 10 years ago 6.0 I paid $4000. Well, you have to be very careful of scam sales. There was supposedly a sale of amazing Spider-Man 1 6.5 on eBay for under $12,000. Yes that Has to be total BS.. because they always sell in the $30,000 range . I have a 6.5. I bought years ago for $4200.. well the 6.5 that sold recently on eBay looks like a 3.0 be very careful. I hope all is well with you.. I do have a page of original Spider-Man artwork in my kitchen by John Romita Junior it’s with Harry Osborn, turning into the green goblin. I wish I had the money I’m not bartending anymore I would like amazing Spider-Man 14 9.4 which would cost over $30,000 or a 9.6 I do have 8.0

Thank you! You are absolutely right. If it's a married cover only, it's a green qualified label. Some of the books I looked at that had a married cover and a purple label also had additional restoration, which is why they were P.L.O.D.s. Thanks for pointing that out. 👍👍

Also, considering that the Spider-Man portions (pages) are likely the only ones that would garner true interest from a buyer’s perspective…selling all of the following pages likely wouldn’t actually be realistic and thus, not worth parting out the book.

I think cutting up a coverless or incomplete book is totally worth it. I am an artist and a collector, and I understand the value of any copy of this book, but the reality is that some copies are junk, and displaying a single page is a really cool way to enjoy, and revere - the story inside this book. I agree that reprints just don't cut it. I look at it this way - your page is like a valuable artifact saved from a damaged original, just like a sculpture fragment you might see in a museum from an ancient Greek or Roman marble statue, say a head or a torso from a full figure that was long since broken. Archeologists and historians don't disregard fragments from important ancient artifacts, so I don't think we should disregard fragments from such iconic 20th century works of art either.

I’m happy with reading the reprint in comic form in Marvel Tales #137 from 1982. I’m not old enough to have nostalgia for AF 15, but I do recognize its importance. Does CGC take into account how the page is removed from the book and if the paper is brittle?
@KarensPages Жыл бұрын
Marcus!!!! I don't think that CGC takes into account how the page is removed from the book (mine has a rough edge), but the rest of the page is treated the same as a graded comic so it can be assigned a blue, purple, green label, etc. For instance, if the single page is trimmed on any of the other 3 sides, it will get a purple label (there are lots of examples on Heritage). Single pages have the page quality mentioned on the label, just like a comic (e.g., off-white, brittle). Thanks for your comment, Marcus! 👍
