are cheap gamecube controllers worth it?

I have a heavily used orginal Gamecube controller, and the wireless Power A one for Switch, it was a hard comparison because the plastic was diferent, and the other one was just in really rough shape. I think I'll just keep trying to hunt down more original ones because it sounds like it's a real gamble with a lot of third party controllers.

I have a good condition gamecube controller from nintendo. Honestly, i prefer the powerA, mostly just because thats what im used to. It has shorter distance for the joysticks, A button feels more natural, and the shoulder/ trigger buttons feel more substantial. PowerA actually listrned to what people anted from the OG controller and improved on it. The main reason id actually hunt down an original is either for collectability, or because youre too used to the original controller to want to bother with anything else.

i got a double pack of 3rd party GC controllers for $20 and they are jah like. the only problem is the sticks reach their max input values before actually reaching the rim.

always use OEM controllers for smash, these third party ones are fine for other games where precision isn't as important though

@@TyEats2200 as long as you're not taking results seriously, using a third party controller probably won't be a big deal to you. you may not even end up noticing the difference unless you had both side by side to compare. just have fun :)

I have powerA wireless gamecube controller, and it is literally impossible to win against anyone with a regular gamecube controller. They are too fast with 0 input lag its unfair!

I havent had any issues with that. Ive done several live streams and i dont lag behind. You may want to check your tv settings, not using game mode can introduce a lot of lag.

*as someone that plays smash ultimate competitively I've owned several power a gamecube controllers wired and wireless and they all get drift eventually and only last me months. But for the months they worked they were great I just hate the wireless ones need batteries*

Ima am smash player and I have the Power A Gamecube controller for my switch and I’m on my 14th I swear, It’s literally like Russian roulette or opening a five pack of backwoods you never know what if it’s gonna be a good controller because they always end up with problems

It’s really just supply and demand. The gabmecube controller is what most smash enthusiasts used growing up, and what professionals became most familiar with. Nintendo discontinued them with the GameCube, and has only done a few limited runs recently. So there’s a lot of people that want controllers, and not a lot to go around, which means people will pay more for them!
