Stopped buying budget tyres 25 years ago, they either work ok'ish in the wet or dry but rarely both together, you get what you pay for and tyres are too important to skimp on.

It would be interesting to compare the same brands on different vehicles, family car, supermini, small SUV to give a broader spectrum, other than a small light city car.

I would like to see a test of the top tires used vs new cheap tires. I've been buying used tires for a while. my recent ones are Michelin pilot sport as4, with like 80% tread on them. 2 years old

We need to be making people more aware of stuff like.this. these are the tyres that every back street and even reputable tyre fitter fit because it's what people can afford yet you are then driving around in an accident waiting to happen.

You should test the Boto Vantage-H8. It's.. special.

Used to buy premium tyres now I get the cheapest, house paid off, holidays and dinners out. Bliss.

I’ve bought great budget tires,but the wet performance seems to start disappearing after the first 4/32 and is totally gone after 6 or 5 . So they really end up costing me the same since I replace them at half life or less.

The test should have been done against a proper touring tyre like a Primacy 4, Efficient Grip performance 2, or somethinf like that, then the difference would be even bigger

This video was useful and yes it would be nice to reference GT radial and iLink with premium tyre
@retrofitter3 ай бұрын
I eyeballed the I link and Powertrac as being good performers before looking at the results, the other tyres have a lot of sipes that serve only to contribute to squirm and poor response

Some of them are just dangerous in the wet. Especially if you mix then with good brands (hilarious lift-off oversteer etc). It's always funny seeing people in expensive cars on crap tyres, being out-cornered by someone in a cheap hatchback because they actually have grip. Especially in MK with roundabouts everywhere. Tyres make a big difference to performance. The ride is almost always worse too.

Why would you test a van tyre on a car? The Comforser is a 6ply commercial rated tyre. Did you not check that?? Ridiculous!
@markf47202 ай бұрын
Yes, it does seem an unfair comparison. I suppose at least they mentioned it in the video. I depends really I think on whether it is declared as a van-only tyre where advertised. If it is sold as a car tyre or for both, then it's fair enough to include it.

note when buying a car second hand and the last MOT shows issues with tyres and the seller puts on these crap cheap tyres .Tells you all you need to know ..... walk away

U should do brake test..

I wouldn't touch any of these, not even the GT. I drive an Up and you ruin the great handling. Currenly running Goodyears, previously Continental

I have a Mark 2 Honda Jazz, I have used Goodyear Efficientgrip tyres, which have been entirely satisfactory, and now I have GTRadial FE2 tyres , the FE2 matches the Goodyear closely, I cannot detect any difference in comfort, braking or noise, in the case of steering response, the FE2 is better, the effects of the somewhat lazy Jazz steering geometry, is less noticeable with the GTradial FE2, turn the wheel and the car changes direction with less delay. the GTradial was 2/3rds of the price of the Goodyear, for the Jazz, GTradial a good choice, for the Vw Up, Steve Sutcliffe approves of the GTradial

'GT Radial' is a 'mid-range' tyre?? Never heard of them in my life, and I've been around a long time! I wouldn't put them on a golf buggy.......... I think there may be a bit of a vested interest here to promote this brand as a 'mid-range' tyre!
@newchannel12315 ай бұрын
I heard about it by searching best Indonesian tyres

GT are actually a decent manufacturer and their newer products are definitely moving from budget into mid range territory these days.

Just fitted them on my Audi TT as a mid range option and based the decision both on price and Tyre Review channel results where it was compared to premium UHP tyres and whilst it wasn’t the best, it acquitted itself really well. (Especially in the wet) I’d never heard of them either but at £137 per tyre compared to £200 +, I think they’re ok.

Khumo are also one of the better mid-range brands. South Korean company.

Today I had replaced two Goodyear Efficientgrip tyres for GT radial FE2 tyres for on the front wheels of a Honda Jazz, The Goodyears had plenty of tread depth left but had age-related cracks noted by the MoT tester. I drove the car in rain today, I consider the GT radials to be a good tyre, confidence is high when cornering and braking, and as quiet as the Goodyears, the GTs are rated "A", the highest category for wet grip. When steering such as a 90 degree turn from a main into a side road, the Jazz turns more directly with the Gts than the Goodyears, the "feel" of the steering is better with the GTs. For price comparison , you can buy 3 GT radials Fe2 tyres for the price of 2 Goodyear Efficientgrip tyres. Perhaps the Gt FE2 is a mid-range tyre and not a budget tyre
