The Falcons have now dropped four straight, falling from 6-3 to 6-7 in the blink of an eye and moving into second place in the NFC South. Kevin Knight and Tre'Shon Diaz attempt to make sense of the team's collapse, including the decline of QB Kirk Cousins and persistent coaching issues. #falcons #vikings #nfl #nflnews #podcast

Coddling a 10+ year vet QB and not benching him to save his trade value instead of trying to win games is legit a fireable offense. It seems like everybody knows Kirk is playing bad but our coach.

Yes, and of course the players won't say it in public.😮😅

When multiple players on the team are underperforming, sloppy, intermittent effort, inconsistent, it’s the coach

A very, very familiar feeling to the DQ/Raheem interim era.

I remember when Raheem took over from DQ on an interim basis, the Falcons won the first 3 and then lost 5 straight games! Mark Zenu asked Raheem some very tough questions unlike the usual soft ones from Dled!

What’s going on is the coach’s are tight b/c don’t know how to end this skid, and so the team is playing tight. The players seem to have lost faith in the coaches and are playing not to lose, like you guys said. Our coaches are out of their league, literally.

It very well could be a poor coaching situation.

Raheem is a coordinator. He’s too jokey and friendly. Which leads to an undisciplined team.

It’s not that complicated to get ahead of the Bucs. If they lose to the chargers and we beat the raiders, we are in 1st place again. High chance that could happen. We aren’t as bad as we think we are, it’s just the silly mistakes. We can beat the Vikings, the team just gave up so it seemed like a super blowout. If we can make the playoffs we would be playing with house money which is a good thing.

Raheem is showing to be a terrible hire. Worried about salvaging another multiple interception game with 0 TDs because it's Kirks return to Minny. So stupid. Like incredibly stupid.

Why would you want to put Penix in as if he would solve the problems on this team? Penix is not ready to go out there. We are not out of the playoffs. Let Cousins finish out the year and see if he can right this ship. I do agree coaching or the lack there of is the main issue on this team.

Why do you assume Penix isn't ready? He's an experienced QB and has had 14 weeks to learn the offense.

Keep in mind that we are not going to hear anything from Raheem that makes the front office look bad. That's one reason we'll not hear much criticism of Cousins. The front office mangled the team-building (again?) this year. Even putting aside the Cousins-Penix debacle, it's a front office that did not make building a dominating OL and DL its top priority. And it is finding out what happens when you don't. It's pretty much that simple.

The problem with the Falcons isn't quarterback, the coaches, or the general manager. It's the owner. I think Arthur Blank should sell the team to someone who can make better hiring decisions.

I could imagine in an alt universe they hired Bill B Instead and Kirk Cousins is game managing a ground and pound offense built by Arthur Smith with Bijan and Tyler.

Until the Falcons stop half assing a rebuild this team won’t go anywhere. Terry Fontenot is not the person for the job.

This is definitely a L. Falcons culture is to lose this exact game with the tanking raiders and with Desmond Ridder at the helm slated to start against them. 100% 🔐 the falcons will lose this game. Take it to the bank NOW.

They don't think Penix is ready. That simp[le. And honestly the falcons aren't ready. 42 points against us and that's not the topic of conversation is crazy. Kirk is the low hanging fuit but it's much much deeper. From top to bottom. I'm telling you morris is not a winner.

The Falcons turned the ball over three times. That's the biggest problem, and Cousins was responsible for two of them.

@@TheFalcoholicLiveI think it's fairly clear Kirk isn't completely healthy. He probably can't do half the plays the OC wants to use in his game planing week to week.😮

Maybe Michael Penix doesn't look good in practice. Remember when we all wanted Ridder to replace Mariota? Then when Ridder played he was worse? Remember when everyone wanted Heineke to replace Ridder and when Heineke finally played he was just as bad? Maybe Penix isn't looking good in practice. There is probably a good reason Penix isn't playing right now.

There's a big difference in expectations between Ridder/Heinicke and a top-10 drafted QB in Penix.

@@TheFalcoholicLiveI would guess so. He seems to be an accurate passer and is able to make plays by being mobile in the pocket to give more time for routes to develop.😮

Lol. You don't know why college HC jobs are more desirable than NFL OC jobs? His starting salary at Oklahoma State would, at minimum, double the salary of the highest paid NFL OC. Todd Monken probably took a paycut when he went from Georgia to the Ravens. He just didn't want to deal with all of the bullshit that comes with modern college coaching.
