Do you have a video about how to count enemy population om their cities? So i can find if they can train more units. Also, how do i know what side of the square is north etc?

You can't precisely count enemy population in their cities. There is a formula to do it approximately cause every action is points so based on the score counting you can predict what is happening in the fog. The downside is that it works at the beginning of the game because later, when the score is high, it's impossible. Too many factors. As to the cardinal directions, each square has 4 endings, so the top one is North, bottom South, left West, and right East.

One population provides 5 score towards a city. One city level provides 50 score towards a city (this starts changing at higher levels once more population than 10 is required for an upgrade, but usually you don't see that high level cities). A level 1 city is worth 100 score. So if you see a city with 105 score. Then that is a level 1 city with 1 extra population. If you see a lv3 city with 215 score, then that is a level 3 city with 3 extra population. If you see a lv3 city with 195 score on the other hand, that would be a level 3 city with 1 population missing, so the opponent would need 5 population to upgrade it to level 4. (keep in mind population does NOT equal number of units trained from the city) The number of units that can be trained from a city is equal to 1+(1 per city level). If all cities have distinct names and there is a city named Inpol that is level 3, then at most 4 units can be currently trained from that city. If you see 4 units that origin from Inpol (you can see the city of origin in the unit's info card), then you know for sure that the enemy can not train another unit in Inpol, unless the city gets upgraded or units die (or get a veteran swordsman ruin/capture another a city).

So crabs suck at land, but are they good in water with theiir 2 movement or do ships simply wreck them?

On water they are much more useful. High defense and 2 tiles movement makes them harder to kill and they can be used offensively cause they can bounce after attack. So sliding into a coastal city after other units deal withe defense is not a problem for a crab.

I won an aquarion mirror match with them. I could hold cities which took a lot of bombers to kill. I win that match in the end

Crabs are epic in the water with aquatism. Best defensive unit in the game and have so much more utility than giants. Every unit has their downside though and needs to be paired with something else. Giants are pretty trash in late game though, you really gotta thread the needle with them
