My thoughts are with most of the WW2 bunkers, the steel and the expansion of rust limits longevity compared to Roman builds.

I have read that adding fiberglass strands will help prevent cracking. For large pours, that in addition to the steel you noted seems like an interesting combination to deter cracking. Any comments on this?

fibers are very commonly used for concrete pours where strength is important. Most flat work is not engineered to be this strong with water reducer, fibers etc. unless there is a need for it to be stronger than normal. Fibers help to minimize hairline cracking.

What is your opinion of post-tensioned concrete? Is it worth the risk? Should post-tension concrete be used with the standard thickness, and not the high tension to avoid the risk?

I am confused. Earlier I learned from you that the concrete mix shouldn't be too wet. But then how I could keep it moist for the first two days? Cover with plastic?

The mix itself should not be too wet as this will cause the finished concrete to be weakened. However, once the concrete has been placed and is starting to harden, it is ideal to keep it hydrated throughout the rest of the curing process (at least for the first week of curing). And covering it with plastic will help to reduce the amount of water evaporating from the curing concrete. how do you make it more flexible?
@creatingconcrete Жыл бұрын
Concrete is not flexible. It needs expansion joints and proper preparation of the ground to minimize cracking
