Quick tip. Alwaise make your first cut with the bow in 45degre. Not on the side or top or bottum. You will get more yield out of the log.

Twiste and skewed wood make good rockers for chairs. reactive wood from limbs make rockers that are curved right when they season. Cradle rockers are another option.

My students and I milled 3 logs last week, and they made your log look dead straight haha. It also gave them a really great lesson on stress in timber.

Splitting the heart will always result in spring in your log, especially where you have center dogging. It is best to box your heart in order to not have that problem. Tulip poplar isn't very forgiving with respect to spring. Ash is even worse.

I like how you sorted it out and basically couldn't do any better than if you spoke shaved it and removed the bark. then got the three inch thick board that would of got thrown in the fire wood pile. Great sawing and save. I think back on the bloopers that showed that you are human... a great human with work to be done on stand up comedy. A better audience would of laughed at the jokes making me the heal who didn't clap when he had a chance. I am sorry "Red" for being such a jerk. (if I left all the spelling errors in this , you would of paused and thought a farm animal is typing me) LOL

Circumference, not diameter.
@TheKajunkat5 жыл бұрын
He was using a loggers tape. They have linear measurements and also a scale to read diameter by using the circumference (divide by PI).
