Are DICE Going to Rush The Original Trilogy? | Battlefront 2 Discussion

Rarely do one of these Battlefront 2 discussion videos, but felt I needed to make this one after a conversation we had in my last live stream. Judging from what we've heard of the OT, and what we've seen of the ST content, I don't have a very good feeling for what's to come next. I hope I'm wrong, but so far everything is looking the opposite of that. Do you think DICE is making the right call by not including the capital ship phase for the Original Trilogy?

Yes i do, simply because when we complain that we are still getting content over 2 years after the game comes out i think that we should just not complain and accept that DICE want to focus on the clone wars as it's the main era these days and it's the fan favourite era of a large proportion of the maps, maybe be a bit optimistic, cause has DICE let you down yet?

@@JoshuaKMedia Dice had to ignore the space aspect of the game because it was developed by a different developer, criterion made the space elements of the game such as SA and the capital ship phase is an acceptable loss in my eyes as it means we can return to content the community wants such as Ahsoka and Ventress and means that DICE can put their focus on the era they really want to make well

Look. It makes sense for certain maps. Scarif , because of that security ring thing that only allows the empire onto the planet, and the death star because why would you leave that to fight on a star destroyer? However i feel that if they added maps like hoth, or endor, they would add a capital ship phase.

James Bacon lol that’s a bit dumb😂 they are ignoring it because of the old game and also most of the content in bf2 was OT the only thing they can add after supremacy (which makes sense to be only ground imo it’s more immersive ) and rogue one would be Star Wars Rebels and I guess they would come back to that but it’ll be ot in feb,March probably Ahsoka in April then after that it’ll probably just go down to whatever we want because the rest will be expansive stuff like smaller characters, weapons, unusual maps for certain gamemodes

I think the only reason they're doing OT now, is for the community to have acces to all eras in Supremacy/IA and Co-Op as soon as possible. To have variety in those game modes. Then they will return to ST at some point. I guess Crait requires a bit of rework for those modes, instead of just putting down a few command posts on the empty salt fields. Would be boring as hell.

Dice is following what most of what the community wants which clone wars, not the OT and definitely not the sequels. Clone wars has most content out all the era in terms of factions, vehicles, weapons, etc. Which is why most people are asking for it and not the OT. If anything OT doesnt really need to be revisited you had a whole dedicated to it and it died off within the coming months. If anything this game should solely focused on sequels (even though I hate the era) and the clon wars. You can also play it offline too and theirs still people playing the game surprisingly. Battlefront 2 2005 while fun with modes is still old an old game many have linked several hours into.

So It's not an exuse for BF2 not to have more OT content just because there was BF2015, almost all players migrated to BF2 and many of them patiently wait for more OT content.

Guys... Don't be so negative... Remember when clone wars CS launched with only 1 map.. For like 2 months... Scarif and deathstar is not really suited for ship phases but just wait for what dice has in mind. I mean we have another full year of support and we most likely will get more maps for OT CS and maybe even with ships (hoth, tatooine, cloud city). I just wanted to say that I believe in this Dev team and seeing what they have achieved over those years since launch, I have no reason to lose my trust now.

@@Mottflyer I don't particularly disagree. The issue is in the unnecessary coupling of something that works sort of like Conquest, with a Capital ship assault mode. It wasn't necessary. It should have always just been a conquest-like mode. We've been asking for a f*cking conquest since BF2015.

I keep saying this, Death Star 2 can be the SHIP PHASE for ENDOR for the EMPIRE. ITS THAT SIMPLE. Death Star 2 could also be a separate ground phase map, but it'll be basically online IA (without a ship phase) then we could have every other map for OT in CS, or S.. with a ship phase!

To be fair we're aggressively begging for Prequel Heroes so can we blame them? Don't get me wrong: we should complain about the lack of OT and ST content in the new updates, but do remain fair towards the devs. We're asking for Clone Wars stuff day in day out, and when they do their best to keep that up we say this game is losing heart and effort! I can happily wait for more Clone Wars stuff in favour of more OT and ST content. The Scavenged AT-ST should absolutely get a paint job at the very least. Cutscenes aren't the biggest deal but at least show that you care. Heck, this game could even undergo its own Operation Health for a little while. Fixing what we have will do the game better than making more.

Of course sequel T was rush , it had to release with the movie . We only got Co-op that mouth because they couldn't get ship phase and other heros done by then. I wouldn't call dice lazy developers in the situation ,because they had deadlines to meet. I like ST-CS mode better then PT-CS, because they map design and objectives are lot more balance then clone war ships phase. I actual glad they got rid of the boarding cut scene and the hanger. It would take twice as long to end the match if we started from the hanger I agree with you on most thing , but most part of this video I do not

So SICK of the rolling feature in this game. Battlefront 2015 was a superior product in so many ways (minus the fighter squadron mode). DICE doesn't know how to develop games, only game engines.

"Rebels can't invade a star destroyer" a faction of approximately 30 people (they can fit inside the Millenium Falcon) invades about 3 resurgent class star destroyers. The Rebel Alliance is a lot more prominent and large compared to the Resistance, and can easily do what the Resistance CANNOT do in canon. I love the game, but DICE is making too many excuses.

They may have rushed sequel supremacy but in doing so I think they’ve made a better game mode. The tight hallways and compact ship phases make for a quicker and more exciting game play.

I understand quickly leaving the sequel era, because it honestly doesn’t have much content to pull from and use in the game, but quickly skipping over the original trilogy (the best era in my opinion) is really frustrating. The OG Trilogy deserves more content, with maps, skins, and a full Capital Supremacy mode with capital ships.

The fact that we didn't receive Anakin and Obi Wan (the two main characters of the prequels) as base game heroes is bad enough to show how incompetent Dice can be.

That's exactly what I was thinking, the reveals for the previously mentioned heroes were amazing, but it ought to be common practice to have iconic heroes like that in the game at launch, if they had waited at least another 2 years we'd probably have a Savage Oppress or IG-88 posing in the menu.

I think the major backlash for The Rise Of Skywalker had a big contribution to this, the hype was destroyed by how awful the film was. I have a feeling they've been working on OT longer than you think. Plus you never know the finals phases of OT could be something exciting. Let's not forget how much great content we've gotten, just wait and see and be patient.

I genuinely don’t understand any of this hate. Dice has had a VERY good track record over the past year with this game, and just because we are getting content fairly close together, I don’t see how that means it will be sloppy and rushed. Of course there is a chance it always could be, but dice has proven themselves recently to be only putting out great content. I understand their decision to have supremacy without capital ships. They explained it pretty well. The OT era GA maps we have that are ground based (Hoth, Endor) are extremely unbalanced until the final phase (by design), and I don’t believe their linear structure would work super well for Supremacy. Please stop assuming the worst when they have given us nothing but the best in recent times.

It may seem rushed because they have a schedule and time budgets, not because they don't care about your favorite trilogy. DICE constantly work on highly requested content, which on completion are followed up with more request. The order of development priorities are as followed: 1.) Promotional 2.) Requested 3.) Personal and experimental projects. The team at DICE have a duty create what the exects demand. Around that they chose to make community requested content to satisfy the player base (do not say that they don't just because certain content you personally want has yet to make an appearance), and they task their developers with experimental projects to evolve their software and also provide employees with the freedom to work on personal projects, because they don't work in a concentration camp, which all can potentially end up in the game. This same team made an entire game solely dedicated to OT, to accuse them of being biased for working on the most requested era by the community- the same era that failed to even have it's existence acknowledge by the copyright owners for years- is unfounded. Point your finger at the community, they're the ones biased towards PT. I want more OT just as much as you, but, to criticize the team's integrity and effort based around your own conjecture, the product of your own biased and entitled demands, is childish and discredits the hard work of the team. To monetize your channel with a filler rant video that provides NOTHING constructive and only spreads ignorance, all because you're worried what YOU want won't be good enough, is disgraceful, selfish, and an abuse of your voice and platform. Sorry to sound harsh but your influence on the community comes with a responsibility, and videos like this spread toxicity throughout the community. It is up to you to check your integrity and know the difference between a healthy discussion video, and a destructive accusatory rant.

I honestly think a part of this is the fact that they're working with a skeleton crew, and they *NEED* to rush things in order to put out any content whatsoever within a timeframe that the community would accept right now. I would surmise that right now they're making precious little money on Battlefront II, which is why the heads in charge will not avail a full team to help with battlefront II's content. This is why, I would think, you'll get half-assed content and only fairly limited playtesting before release, hence the bugs. The decision to not have any cosmetic lootboxes or paid singleplayer DLC has shot them in the foot. No money means fewer people working on it, which means half-assed content and dripfed content. Though dripfed content is simply the policy now, with the 'Live Service' nonsense, which essentially just validates unfinished releases and full-priced playable beta schemes.

I feel this frustration as well. But I don’t think they’re like “let’s get back to Clone Wars asap”, I think they just have a very small team and are not given enough time to make amazing stuff. It feels so lazy, and Ajan Kloss is depressing if you look at the details and the mountains in the edge of the map. 2005 graphics right there. I’ve had Battlefront 2 since I pre-ordered it many years ago. In that time, I’ve unlocked many skins and emotes, but I still bought the recent Celebration Edition update because I believed DICE deserved it for all their hard work. However, to see how many corners they’re cutting with the Original Trilogy Era (my favourite Era), I am regretting my purchase.

After all, half the community won't STFU about Ahsoka and Ventress (not saying they shouldn't be in the game, just saying that y'all need to chill, and think about what makes sense, not what you put on your wishlist) so why wouldn't they? They probably want to get this over and done with so they can add what we've been begging for. So far I've seen far more posts about Prequel heroes than posts about anything OT related. So if dice is seeing the same thing as me, then they'll assume that the Prequel era is more popular, and thus rush the OT content, to get back to Prequel content sooner, and appease the fandoms appetite.

I really don't mind that they're not focusing on the Sequels or OT content as much as they did on Clone Wars, I like that they're adding extra content for the OT and Sequels but I really just want them to get back to Clone Wars. The only non Clone Wars era stuff I'd be excited by would be if they added Jyn Erso/Krennic to go with the Scariff map or if they added Rebels characters/Lothal. Having said that, I do think there's a chance that once they're finished with Clone Wars, they may go back and add in some more stuff like adding in the capital ships on certain maps in CS or giving Rebel or Resistance specific vehicles like they did with the Republic TX-130.

I believe you can even add a ship phase in Death Star II because when you take a look of what’s happening outside you can see imperial and rebels dreadnought fighting each other in the space . And the transports ships would just have to land in the hangars so no excuses for DICE

I don’t mind focusing clone wars content. Imo there was no better time in Star Wars lore than the clone wars. It’s part of the reason battlefront 2 2005 was so great.
