@loki22405 жыл бұрын
@@michaelyun2407 - It's not just a matter of advantages. Probably more important than such promises are comfort and durability. If you play a sport, you need footwear that fits well, allows you to perform, doesn't increase the risks of injury, and lasts pretty long. Think about running shoes. If you're running 40+ miles per week, you need well-cushioned shoes (more than one pair) that aren't going to increase your risks of injury and will last for around 500 miles. Basketball is similar, running up and down the court, changing direction, and landing on a hard surface.

ubermench3000 my comfort zone is between $50 and $90 USD. I can easily get something that will perform well. Currently I’m looking at a Curry 6 for only $86 brand new. My logic is that I’m in the gym for at least 1 hour every day (I’m a student who plays basketball), so if the season last for 3 months, that’s 90 days. That’s less than $1 per hour to have fun. Thus by working minimum wage for 9 hours, I could have over 90 hours of fun. That’s great value comparing to other hobbies

You can’t really trust NBA players when they talk about shoes. All those guys are sponsored by shoe companies and they have a financial incentive to push expensive shoes onto consumers. I’m only a casual basketball player, but I never noticed any difference in how I play whether I’m wearing Jordan’s or Walmart shoes. As long as they have decent ankle support, I’m good.
@alfredhitchcock455 жыл бұрын
Of course, the difference would be significant between a Walmart shoe and a branded shoe. But the difference is not that big when it comes to big brands. I should say that Nike is crap. Adidas is more durable and more comfortable.

Gang time How am I wrong for saying that I personally haven’t noticed a difference in my game regardless of which type of basketball shoes I wear? I’ll reiterate. I’m not a huge basketball player. I’ve paid as much as $400 and as little as $40 for basketball shoes, but I’d play the same in either of them. “Wal-Mart shoes” was an exaggeration. I’m not even sure if they make basketball shoes.

When I was a kid my mom once took me to buy new shoes. At the store we looked at a pair of pretty expensive Nike shoes. When asking an employee why those shoes were so expensive he simply responded by saying that this particular model was (at that time) worn by a famous tennis player. No other reason. He told us that other cheaper models were equally as good. I nowadays mostly go with Asics shoes which go for not more than 50€. I'm very satisfied.

The basketball doesn’t know if you are wearing Jordan’s or Payless shoes.
@baxakk73744 жыл бұрын
Your feet will feel. Shoes from Payless are awful, you might not hurt yourself with them but they will feel painfully tight in some places. Better to buy used Nike or Adidas shoes from Craigslist or thrift store if it comes to that.

As a former soccer player, I was always extremely particular about my boots (cleats) while playing and could never play in cheap boots because they just didn’t perform the same. However, that’s for a sport that uses the shoe(foot) and ball as the main parts of that particular sport; hence the word “futbol” or “football” With basketball and American football, the shoes would seem to me to be less of an issue simply because if you can’t shoot or dribble properly it doesn’t matter what shoes you have on.
@Daniel-ds8nd2 жыл бұрын
Actually, the term "football" signifies any games "peasants" play on the field with a ball on foot. This include rugby, soccer and etc . The elites (ruling class) usually play on their horses like polo. This goes way back in England/UK.. soccer is the correct english term for modern day "football"... Go check it out yourself. There are still 100+ year old clubs in England and Scotland who are registered as "soccer" clubs.
@GraV212 жыл бұрын
@@Daniel-ds8nd That’s a nice lesson and all, but pretty irrelevant to what I was referring to. “Football” in America (where I’m from) is the term I was differentiating it from, not soccer. I’m familiar with what the terms “Soccer”, “Football”, and “Futbol” represents in different contexts. That’s why I used “Soccer”. So either you misinterpreted what I meant, or just felt the need to go on your own tangent.

@wat57095 жыл бұрын
They didn’t take into account breaking the shoe in. Your foot needs to get used to the shoe, and the shoe needs to get used to your foot. Once you are wearing them more the the shoes get better.

@@Chilax IF you were to look online they go for anywhere from 110 to 130 usd since they did not sell well and are for the large part discounted so anyone paying 180 for those is getting a bad deal, however thank you for bringing up the fact that it is in Canadian dollars as now some of the price tags they are putting on the shoes makes more sense

No, there are some bang for your buck shoes out there. Just rare though. If you can play ball then you know good shoes are really needed. It doesn't matter if they are expensive or cheap, just as long as they're good.

Nah. Do this on work boots. $195 Georgia’s have lasted two YEARS as a welder. That’s INSANE compared to the $290 Irish Setters. They lasted 8-9 months before the sole wore out. (Edit) the tread on the heel wore out

This reminded of the Jordan Jumpman Pro back in 96-97, when it had the same tech specs as the Jordan 12 Taxi and nobody knew. The original Jumpman Pro had the full same full length zoom and carbon fibre plate as the Jordan 12. Jumpman Pro retailed just over $100 and Jordan 12 was over $200 after taxes in Canada. Jumpman Pro was super comfy as well, the retro ones do not stack up - they no longer have full length zoom and use TPU plates now. Would be interesting to see how the old Jordan 11-13 stack up against today’s top line shoes.
