american girl doll added a cocktail collection to their cafe and mcdonald’s started doing the adult happy meals and i started thinking about this too, like i think they do this because it has become more normal to embrace one’s inner child. for the gen alpha who are growing up thing dolls and toys are weird the toy companies need someone to market to. and who better than those with fragile self esteem due to incongruity in their self image. to sum this up i think companies (not just doll ones) but those who have products marketed to children turn to adults who are trying to heal themselves through maybe their childhood toy. because as i mentioned there is a massive load placed on kids due to the media that makes them think they need to grow up quickly. idk though. i could be wrong
