Are Gambit And Magneto DEAD?!

SPOILERS AHEAD as we dive into the HUGE events in X-Men '97 episode 5, specifically the fate of fan favorites Magneto and Gambit. So are the two mutants truly gone...or could their deaths be undone by the appearance of a new mutant? I have a question regarding magneto. How was he able to withstand all that energy from that sentinel but when fighting Pryor his shield couldn’t hold up from glass? Was he just holding back?

Well Bastion helped but His body naturally shields itself. It doesn’t mean it will protect others. He is a fundamental force so he always has an electromagnetic passive ability going

It can't, that would also mean lowering Magneto's sheild preventing the Wild Sentinel to still keep blasting. And you gotta *remember* that the other Morlocks were there caught in the blast as well.

If Magneto was able to pile enough stuff, it's possible. Plus, the xmen said the Morlocks were underground. All Magneto has to do is tell them to move somewhere, maintain his shield, and tells Leech to use his abilties. If they can show Gambit's lifeless body, why not Magneto? I say he's alive.

@@redevic5292 1st off the X-Men says the Morlocks LIVED underground, they needed to hide from human society cause of them being mutants. And 2nd Magis have to multitask by having fend off the Sentinel massive blast coming at him and the Morlocks while holding Rouge & Gambit back to not get caught in the crossfire. And even if Leech remove Magneto's powers the shield he was holding up would be gone leaving them defenseless against the Sentinels powerful beam on them. They show Gambits body cause he wasnt disinegrated by the robots blast, he died by the stab wound he got and by his own power he use to kill the Sentinel. Whereas Magneto and the other Morlocks were reduced to ash by the beam. Just because you don't see a dead body doesn't mean they fake thier deaths all the time.

@@akilcharles3473 Not entirely defenseless... "Erg" another mutant that was with Magneto and Leech, the one with an eyepatch has a mutant ability. Energy Absorption. At moment from impact he could've absorbed part of the energy from the Wild Sentinel while Leech takes Magneto's power away being undetectable.

@@shikamarunara5445 The wild Sentinel is not a mutant, ERG is not on the same level as Bishop able to absorb that destructive beam (not that Bishop can't do that either I believe). And again Magneto was already injured fighting the Sentinel while at the same time deflecting the fully powered blast from the Wild Sentinel, there was no clear way for him to escape the blast with the rest of Morlocks with him while also Rouge & Gambit being in clear eye view to see them escape.
