Tried an experiment, all the a-roll in this video was shot on the Fuji X-H2S with their chrome film emulation, not LUTs added. How does it look?

The active track is great for solo shooters to have the camera follow a subject while you are moving and controlling the gimbal. So I can walk with the gimbal and control all my framing and active track with handle pan/tilt

7:25 The tracking part looks better in the sense that "locked off shots" will look more handheld rather than "locked off." That's the only thing I can think of.
@philamonhemstreet86322 жыл бұрын
Active tracking is great for small crews shooting moving vehicles. Right now for personal electric vehicles, we use 360 cameras to “track” other riders and ourselves. Active track could let the camera man ride ahead or behind and focus on positioning, without staring at the camera trying to ride safely

Nice video. Now that my few years old RS2 Pro is dying, I am planning to get a RS3 Prod. I only use the active track when I need to track a hiker from the front on mountain trail which is too dangerous to walk backwards. Also used to track myself my setting the gimbal on a tripod in higher vintage point which walking pass trails.

I just wish Raveneye was BUILT-IN to the gimbal unit itself. Having built in active track would be game changer for me personally. Active track a person, cars, animals, etc. That can free up the user to move around the subject and be more creative with their framing. Have a similar UI from the DJI pocket 3 or their drones built in to the small monitor. I dont want to have to deal with another device to turn on, connect, and charge like the current raveneye system.

Hey Tyler, Great Video! I Love the colors in the Video! I saw in another comment that you used a Fuji and apparently straight out of camera ?! Did you really only adjust the contrast and Saturation in post or did you properly grade after all? Also, how do you get such an amazing dynamic range ??? it looks like filmed on an ARRI with 17 Stops :) Would love to get some insights from you. Keep up the great work!

I use active track for interviews and mount my RS3 pro on a motorized slider for paralaxing B-cam. I don't have a motorized head but the software perfectly tracks the subject and the camera keeps them in focus.

I wonder when Z-axis stabilization becomes a thing. Dolly moves are impossible to recreate on gimbals, no matter how good an operator is.

Even in flashlight mode? That would stabilize the up-down motion

I would use the subject tracking when recording a class room speaker who moves a lot and I don't have a secondary shooter with me for a second camera.
@videoguy31102 жыл бұрын
The push button lock and sleep modes save an incredible amount of time and make the difference between a device that would sit in the closet and one that now comes on every shoot. I've shot a lot with the RS3 in the last 6 weeks, previously never been a gimbal shooter as I found it slowed me down too much. Shocked at how much I'm using it and stoked with the way it's leveled me up creatively. It's also pretty quick to balance, takes me around 1 minute now. Yet to really use the raven eye side of things much, feels like it overcomplicates things when I'm working solo.
@PetrosofSparta2 жыл бұрын
So I've used the active track on the RS 2 when I was running along side a subject and didn't want to fall flat on my face and wreck the FX6 I had mounted to it. The other use case that comes to mind, was the time I had to again use the RS2 to orbit someone rather rapidly and had to keep them directly in the centre of the frame - which to me is also it's downside, it allows you to lock to the centre of the frame, but doesn't allow you to say, keep your subject on the right hand side of the screen in a specific third, it has to be the center, so it's either that or shoot wider and crop, losing resolution.

Hi Tyler, Thanks a lot for this informative video -- I really liked the closeup shots of the gimbal so I could see the build quality. At this point, I am not sure whether it is best to keep my Zhiyun Crane 2 for the next few years or upgrade to the RS3 Pro. I have had the Zhiyun Crane 2 since 2018 and have been using it to make walking videos -- feel free to check them out on my channel. It is calibrated nicely to compensate for sudden turn movements (good amount of deadband). Though the micro jitters and z axis bounce movement can bother me sometimes -- especially on intense hikes. I am wondering in your opinion whether it is worth it to upgrade from the Zhiyun Crane 2 to the DJI RS3 Pro?

Great vid as always Tyler, def appreciate the content 👍 Question re: BT/REC button: got my Rc3Pro yesterday, and has paired perfectly with R5. Using REC button on gimbal performs as it should, but not get any activity out of it for shutter release. Was looking forward to doing some time lapses with this, and even plugging in the RSS cord im not having any luck. Does your gimbal perform the same, works for start/stop Video, but nothing for photo? Thx!

If you think gimbals are not good your not experienced in how to use one. It’s always less is more with one. You also need a side handle wider grip to even or the movement, get the walk right and be very intentional about what your doing

I have a real use for the tracking, and am real excited to try it next year hopefully. I record a lot of political rallies and work as both a videographer and photographer. With 8k raw footage I’ve been doing some tracking in post so I don’t have to follow speakers on stage as they move around. Having a bit of a physical movement with the tracking and then a bit more with zoom in post would be perfect.
