I think it’s possible they have been here. But do they have a population living here, unlikely, in my opinion. Although I think within the next 20 years there will be a resident population of great whites in Britain.

I think the bigger mystery is why they are not here. As a fisherman the fish life does appear to be changing. As some fisherman have got into species hunting there's odd things turning up, like the Ringneck Blennies in South Devon.

One seen off an oil rig for a fact in Scotland. And also off Rockall bouy in Scotland in the 90,s by a dozen fishermen it was huge and circled the boat.

The population of great whites has been growing significantly off the US east coast, especially Cape Cod. Some of these sharks might following the Gulf Stream east to Britain.

Great white sharks have been reported in the UK since 1965 and the Shark Trust states that there have been over 100 credible sightings of great white sharks in the last 10 years.

Great Whites have also been spotted off the North Eastern coast of France , some of the biggest ever recorded have been in the Mediterranean

I believe one of the Gt Whites main breeding grounds is just off the coast of Sardinia. Some years ago there was footage of an Italian guy and his young teenage son fishing in a 5m boat and a huge great white swam up alongside. It was bigger than the boat but the father got a good two minutes of footage before the shark disappeared- it was on the news.

We definitely have enough food sources for great whites and our seas are warm enough , I think we do have them for a period of the year but not all year round

There are many interesting cases. There was a fisherman whose 14 foot boat was hit , he fell overboard and was killed (or mauled icr) by a shark. Theres also the Portsmouth case where a guy was moving a buoy with a jcb in 6 feet if water and a large 5 metre shark came up and chewed on the tyre. The driver and 8 beachgoers saud it was dark on top and white underneath with triangular teeth.

La Rochelle is about 100 miles down the west coast of france. We were working near there and made the mistake of thinking it was a holiday destination. Its not! 😂😂 So we got drunk on the beach and went to sleep.

I’m sure great white sharks pass the English coast all the time. I highly doubt they stick around though, they seen every now and then around France, Spain and Portugal

I guess I always just assumed that Great Whites live wherever there happens to be ocean, but I do think it's funny that the UK doesn't (or shouldnt) have them. It reminds me of all the fuss British people make about adders!! It's like Britain was just meant to be this nice, safe place for human habitation!

They're definitely here, Temperatures are good, food is good, a lot of credible sightings. But the biggest proof is in the fact that people do indeed find great white teeth here in the UK

The great whites are becoming rare species. I don't think there in are waters. Also when tagged they don't seem to interact with other great whites from other oceans.. The media love a good great white shark story in the UK summer season

A few years ago I was walking on a beach near plymouth and torpoint Cornwall called whitsand bay right on the beach maybe 50yard off was a group of 5 orcas swimming up the beach couldn’t believe it

They use to think there was breeding grounds around the UK & Ireland but they where never found. I believe great whites are in the UK & Irish waters & there needs proper research cause I think great whites are staying deep in our oceans there are plenty of seals around the UK & Ireland. When I was young I use to fish of the peer in Killybegs Ireland & seals always jumped on to the peer when the fishing boats came in.

There will always be rogue wild sea life entering our waters briefly to feed etc. And there will be more sightings of unusual activity as the waters around the world are all warming up slowly but surely

Great Whites have been in Southern Cornish waters for well over 30 years at the least! We also have Mako's here, Porbeagle sharks, Hammerheads and many many more species. How do people not know this? 😊

There’s not much of their favourite on the south coast - we don’t on the S coast have huge seal colonies, penguins or sea lions but we do have have dolphins and porpoises.

because its not true, if there were here for over 30 years, great whites would have been seen, yet not a single confirmed documentation...whereas porbeagles have been physcially documented, so nah no GWS ever have come to england

A very few number of Great Whites probably do come into UK waters but the problem is the lack of food for them. In places like South Africa and California there are locations where there are 1,000s and 1,000s of seals - the UK does not have such places! Yes, a lot of seals live around the UK but at no sites are they condensed into sufficient numbers to regularly attract Great Whites.

@@wezist But, as I said above, they're not condensed into huge seal colonies (like you have in California, South Africa and elsewhere) they're very widespread around the whole of the UK - so slim pickings for a Great White shark.

Actually if u done your research, because of currents and water temps is available amount of seals available to great whites would be around 2k thats that enough to support a enough sharks to maintain a population, I have no doubt there has been a great white in British waters but it will be many years if ever we have a population, even south Africa shark tourism is on the bring because of the low numbers there could bess than 3200 great whites left, unfortunately we are too late to dave them, same with the megalodon, the smaller sharks that require less energy and will eat almost will out compete them, tiger and bull sharks are a huge issue and imo they need culled if we want to save whites.
