If an enemy tank lingers for too long in the greyzone, it should remove the greyzone in an area around the tank where you can go and destroy it with infantry, and there also needs to be a timer for the whole team in between vehicle spawns like 20 seconds or maybe a little longer.

If they are not comparable by tier, it doesn't change anything, as gun balance is in same shit, and merge is coming. I wonder when tanks will have conditions to support infantry, not just limitations because of someone's cries

A simpler solution could be to add 5 seconds to the time you can be in the grey zone which could give more time to deliver an explosion pack or an AT mine on the offending tank.

I agree that grey zone timer should definitely be increased but I still think the problem would exist, right? Some maps you can sit so far back in the grey zone (like D-Day)

True, but then would generally be less effective the farther back they are. And on D Day, you DON'T want to sit way back on the map against a German team that knows its business. I got schooled as a noob by being AT gunned when I tried that. But a pastiche of some of your ideas and the timer thing might encourage more active tank use. We will see if anyone hears.

I think giving ally infantry the ability to man externally mounted machineguns when the commander is buttoned up would also help as not only does it bring more defensive firepower into play but also the squad of the guy manning the gun

A solution I like is taking away the greyzone after a certain amount of time, say you stay there for more than 2 or 3 minutes and after that it forces you to move up. We need something to stop people camping the vehicle slot the entire game.

The ideas you talked about seem pretty reasonable like the timer that increases each time you die and the score requirement for tanks I can see both working in a positive manner to get people to play the objective instead of just hogging vehicles and only worry about kills

Yes and no. Yes because of what you said, but also remember that a cooldown means significantly LESS tanks overall. So while greyzoning would still happen, its overall impact would be lowered substantially. Then, you combine it with a solution that encourages tanks to push up, and ideally it solves the whole issue

Give players extended time in the gray zone if a tank is camping there, long enough to kill it and return back. Limit the safe space inside the gray zone to only near the tank to restrict players from pulling shenanigans. There were many times I could've killed a camping tank if only I had more time.

I can see a problem with the point requirement idea. Sometimes there are moments, where you spawn in a tank you get immediately blown up, whether it's the infantry suddenly rushing, an enemy tank right behind the corner or dumb map and spawn design putting you out of cover. In Stalingrad, when there's any tank other than the T-70, you're set for a bad time.

I don't think anyone is really making a fuss about gray zone tanks because the game seems to work fine that way. Perhaps trying to "fix" the fact that tanks may be physically unreachable by infantry could change the entire tanks/infantry balance, impacting the game in an unforeseen way and could cause bigger problems in the meta. If no one is complaining about this, maybe is better not try to solve it.

I love the point that you said that tanks on a point doubles the amount of soldiers you have on a point, it will be great because it will make light tanks sometimes more effective to play instead of a heavy tank because it can rapidly break throughout the enemy position and double the soldiers really fast. But it would not be broken because it is a light tank and it is not heavy armored so easy to kill.

The grey zones themselves are the problem, not the tanks. At half of the maps they are much too limiting, you lose your snipers after a capped objective if you stay behind to snipe in Tunisia and Pacific. In Berlin, the grey zones mostly eliminate the possibility of flanking attacks, in some Moscow maps as well. And killing a grey zone tank is not a hollow victory, it can totally change the tide because without that tank firing HE from a safe space you can finally survive your run to the objective.

Back when Heroes and Generals was my go-to ww2 fps, it was set up to where each faction had a certain number of spawns for each type of vehicle. So in each match there were maybe 20 light tank spawns, 15 mediums, and 10 heavy and 10 TD, and planes too, or whatnot. Once all those were lost…that’s it, no more of that type could be spawned. It was a good system I think. Something similar would probably work here too. But I think you’d need the ability to pick which vehicle while in game from what you have unlocked or something.

I was thinking about this before. One of my solutions was to reduce their damage when in the grey zone. So say a tank deals 100 damage in normal zone. When it’s in the grey zone (and maybe a buffer of 50-100m) their damage is reduced from 100 to 25

From a tanker's point of view, they often don't know if they are in the grey zone. I get the frustration from the unkillable tank in far away. Especially when your team doesn't have a good attacker pilot. Also real problem is balance. I regularly see Jumbo tanks vs Pz III or Pumas. Or vice versa, Stuarts vs Panthers.

Maps are too small imo thus pushing tanks back as they cant cover distance to defend themselves and a lack of teamwork leads to tanks being incredibly vulnerable ideally they should remove the grey zone and give a reason to support armored elements

How about just getting rid of grey zone entirely, but once you've entered "no mans land" or "point of no return it" you cant build rallie points in the area so you can just spawn camp people or build machine gun nests, AT guns, basically your engineers become usless after passing that border. It doesnt fix vehicle spam but it does make playing infantry feel less helpless.

Either have a grey time timer and the game message " move to next zone soldier" or grey zone = white shield safety but weapons are disabled until you move out of grey zone. or you are permanently shown on map to encourage movement

I think there should be no Greyzone. Tanks can sit far back and snipe for all i care, Tanks like the Tiger or panther were not made for short range skirmishes, but for long range engagements of 500 - 2000 metres. It should be possible for the attackers to do a wide flanking maneuver to get to the sides or behind the camping tank. Also this would enable encircling tactics as a whole. Enlisted needs a system like Heroes and generals had, where the two sides had different amounts of resources for manpower, weapons, tanks and planes. The whole world war mode with it's tactics was really cool for the gameplay. This would also make the vehicles and high level weapons really special when the resources for them are quite low.

Another issue with gray zone tank campers is how close the resupply points are to some of their favorite spots to camp. Seeing as a lot of these spots favor tank campers as they usually have a good view of the objective, such as D-Day where both sides can spam shells into the bunker objectives making it almost impossible for either side to capture/defend assuming no one actively hunts down the other teams tanks. Honestly D-Day might become a lot more broken than it already is if JagPanthers end up here seeing as they got a lot of frontal armor and because the front is mostly sloped armor most of not all shells will bounce off instead of going through it. As there are plenty of spots on D-Day where a tank can camp on the hills behind the bunkers and village where they can spawn kill enemy tanks as well as rain HE shells into the bunkers and other objectives. Even Berlin is bad for this with that River crossing map where the Germans can almost always spawn kill and camp enemy tanks that are just spawning in as they can kill you the moment you spawn with nothing protecting your spawn zone. What's even worse is I always see games where people will only sit in those spots near the bridge and sit there all game spawn killing tanks.

Here is a solution you can only bring 2 tanks or planes per person per game. This way no one person spawns them all the time. That does not limit the gray zones but would be a better solution for tanks and planes overall. This would aid in making game more infantry again, but you will still see vehicles.

This would help - I'd even suggest 1 vehicle per squad, per objective. You die, that's it until you cap/lose the next point. Vehicles shouldn't be infinite - would make the games more dynamic too I think - as vehicles runout, each game would change and develop.

The only thing with having spawn point costs for tanks (particularly the heavy tanks) is that let's say your team is getting stomped. A good tanker or pilot can help to change the tide of that battle. I know because I've seen it before, and was even able to be that tanker once. But if you need kills to get these spawn points, but you just keep getting mowed down by that random dude with the HMG on a hill somewhere, you're not going to get enough points to spawn that vehicle. So that potential tide-turner (even though they're already rare) is now impossible to get. I find that this is something important to think about.

I don't think it is a problem and should stay as it is with some fixes on certain maps and campaigns but that should be all. Sniping from good long range position shouldn't be changed, planes are here to counter them BUT i have a very different solution for what you guys call greyzone tanks. As far as i see most greyzone tankers want to use their tanks as long range artillery support and i think it would be great if we had actual artilleries like HLL but on a closer range (to make them vulnerable against long range shots), and artillery gunners seats/using position can be located on an open space so you can shoot them from long ranges with your rifle. They can limit tanks' greyzone time with those changes.

It will be nice to have option to completely remove gray zones at least in custom match. There are few mods with huge maps, but very rare and points usually don't count. And sitting on some distant hill and shooting enemy from long range is perfect.. until some plane bombs you.

My only problem with pushing points with tanks is no matter how many friendly infantry around. There's always that one guy with a det pack. Or a 300 m shot with a panzerphaust. For me det packs are a one shot for me every time. I do play Normandy allies mostly so maybe it's a problem with those tanks being one tapped.

Here's some alternative ideas as well: While Gray zones are an issue, I feel like the reason tanks are so often prone to this issue is because we're just too good. Playing Berlin I don't even get mad when a panzerfaust kills me, I'm just like "okay, guess my turn was over." To counter grey zone is to counter the fear tanks have of Playing the scene. A few alternatives: Squad AI will auto mark vehicles or clusters of enemies if they are engaged or in view for a while [Marking stuff makes tank players feel confident enough to push] Tank support should be rewarded, players get slightly more points if they kill an enemy engaged with your friendly tank, once again building the tankers confidence to play more aggressively. Tanks become a tour de force but this aggressive play can allow for sneaky plays or allow good players a chance to actually get in range to show them what's what. Lastly, and more of a stretch: Different "tank" classes. I'm a bit of a shcmuck for vehicles and I feel like adding vehicles will add a new depth to gameplay. Like the idea of the motorbike from Tunisia or the AA truck from pacific. Adding new support vehicle allows for more varied gameplay [such as fighter and support planes] And support vehicles are much easier to deal with but also more complex. Perhaps more armoured cars, or half tracks that can make traversing maps easier but also provide an edge in infantry fighting with MGs that are better in shorter ranges than spamming the main cannon on a tank. These classes work by supporting infantry to get them to a point, or perhaps [if they ever update the skill trees] you can customize your vehicles for different tasks, change your halftruck into a halftrack with better armour, but slower and less infantry capacity, or swap out entirely for a truck that comes loaded with ammo crates, or even something stupidly whimsical like a mortar vehicle, or anti-tank jeep. Not only do these lighter vehicles force players into the field to make the most of them, but it means tanks are more spaced out and less often in use or if they hope to compete with the other vehicle have to get in there and do work. Of course this is mostly dreaming on my part but it would be an interesting way to spice up combat, give old players something to grind and maybe force tanks on the field to support their light armoured borthers. Of course this is just wild wishing...

If tanks were to actually multiply your capture speed, I would like them to be able to reach out and touch an objective from distances farther than infantry. (basically the zone being twice the size at minimum for vehicles) EDIT: why I say this is because going into an objective as a vehicle is a death sentence since they are built around infantry causing lots of little sneaky corners for guys to sit in... So, if an objective is a house and its yard, for vehicles the zone should extend past their immediate building/yard and into the field around it as well.

Greyzone wasn't a issue before the allied rockets nerf. To solve it all it takes is undo the nerf and everything is as it shoudk be again, one side has stronger tanks, the other has stronger planes, everyone is (or should be) happy

I dont feel like a tank playing like a Tank should plaay is a problem, even more, i think Tanks should be more rare and have the posiibility of using the Entire Map and not only the small zone the infantry is limited to use, that would create a flanking meta where vehiclws and tanks want to out flank the enemy vehicles, over time puting the tanks outside the cities and cqc zones where infantry fight for the cap zones

The tanks hiding in grey zone because the P47 and p38 are overwhelming. Once the tanks got tag, the planes can kamikaze without harsh penalty. Just wait for 10 sec and get another plane while tanks take a lot of time to the front line.

I love playing as a tanker and pushing points and I normally get 15 to 80 at least kills depending on the campaign and tank I'm using.i wish more people pushed up with thier tanks.I would love to have an artillery strike that attacks tanks in the gray zone after awhile example lets say d-day and someone camps in gray zone ship artillery will hit them knocking out but wont damage tanks that spawns and pushes.

I didn't even know that premium players can have 3 squad vehicle in their lineup.. that's a crazy advantage. In general, I think I'd prefer a simple system where everyone has just one spawn for a tank and one spawn for a plane. each vehicle kills would feel very rewarding, (and even the noobs can suicide bomb that tiger on top of the hill and take down that threat for good). Of course, this should apply only with the new update, where all vehicles have a similar rank in a battle. Also another change that could help the grey zone problem : just delete the grey area and make the map bigger. Right now the biggest issue is that there are no space to manoeuver. All tank engagements are very frontal, repetitive and boring. It would surely be less call of duty but more hell let loose type of game, and I'm certain the game would be much more interesting.

In the merge there will be battle ratings for everything so no more (unless you’re crazy) boys at v tiger. So they will be a problem to an extent but not as how they are now in my opinion but there needs to be a timer that forces them out to fight and a delay between spawns but have it depend on the vehicle. Like light tanks be that fastest and heavies be the slowest so it’ll feel more focused on infantry gameplay rather than vehicle. As for air atm I can only think of giving them timers too but it’ll be more complex since you can’t just say fighters fast and attack slow. Because of the f6f and thunder bolt

If they severely nerf the tnt charges and buff the survivability of tanks then I’d be in favor of getting rid of the the grey zone. Close quarters battles with infantry is a death sentence and shouldn’t be the case for TANKS.

Frankly i think that *TANK WRECKS* that are on the map as a prop should be removed, i don't need to see all these pre-destroyed tanks since the road will be FULL of them in 15 minutes anyway.

I feel the main issue of grey zone tanks is the direct result of basic players not having both an Air and Tank spawn. It's just a generic vehicle spot. The most effective counter to a well positioned tank is air support and unfortunately; we can get into games where a side doesn't have the proper counter. The easy fix is to have 3 infantry, 1 armor, and 1 air spawn as default.

How about tanks from grey zone can perform kills but don’t get rewarded for them? That would put an insta stop to those people who do this to abuse the greyzone knowingly.

The last system reminds me of star wars battlefront 2 and i like it,the better players should have the better vehicles and not a noob that gets killed without accomplishing anything. The bonus of tanks for capping objectives is interesting but any squad can have nades to destroy it immediatly also depends what team is better. Personally i dont find the gray zone camping that bad,its only frustrating for me if most of my team are noobs and dont care dying all the time,with heavy mg you can damage the tracks and then delete it with panzerfaust/shreks, pak40,planes,other tanks. Also hedgehogs help a lot but i dont see many building them except from me and very few, as well as keeping them constantly marked. its not a matter of balancing the game but a matter of which team has the most braincells, also tanks were made for that far away engagements anyway

I disagree with the point system for being able to use a vehicle. It would turn into what's under all over again. Would you keep getting camped ato your spawning side? Unable to do anything.

I have sacrificed so many vehicles and troops to kill tanks in the grey zone. If i know a certain place where they like to camp. I put anti-tank mines there. Yes. I hate tanks that camp out in the grey zone. I dont mind the way its set up as far as vehicles spawn and how many to have and what you have.

If it was up to me I'd make separate gray zones for both teams and then have one gray zone that neither teams can go into with out dying. The issue is especially bad in Normandy and Tunisia due to lack of cover and bad pathing.

You do know that tanks that are all the way back in the spawn shelling the objective help the team a lot, right? If you are defending, you can cut down enemy troops before they reach the objective, as you should. If you are attacking then you can clear the objective and cut off enemy reinforcements. This is a war game, it should encourage ingenuity and resourcefulness, not cater to mindless players. What’s next? Nerf sniper rifles?? Smh.

I just usually bomb a tanker that’s sitting in the gray zone. They only move when they need more ammo and it’s not hard to spot them with a plane 🤷♂️

im not a huge fan of them merging the groups in general i like that i can choose a certain campaign to play in and they should just add a timer for how long u can stay in the grey zone

These tanks are a nuance ima be real worse part is if you have a tank user that have a high cal with HE it’s even more annoying bc they can just wipe out anyone in that objective and some And it makes controlling the objective way more harder

In addition to your Force Multiplier idea, Tanks could also have a perimeter for extra XP for infantry. If they get kills in the tank zone they get more out of it. So it incentivizes infantry to guard a tank as it gets into the fight.

One potential solution is that any kills made by vehicles in the grey area automatically spot the vehicle for the enemy team - and for twice as long as a normal spot. So with each kill the tank appears to the enemy team. Making it a big target for planes and tanks. This is going to become a HUGE problem after the merge. There's going to be so many Tigers and Tiger 2s, Jumbos and IS-1s exploiting this endlessly on the flatter maps that weren't designed with heavy tanks in mind.

being able to sit in the back where enemy infantry cant get to you, and the ability to cycle up to 6 tanks is as OP is the M1 Carbine, all jokes aside, it hurts the game, and like DF did with the mech event this year, use a point system per spawn for vehicle makes vehicle spam, and greyzone tanking a less occuring problem, this also lessens the problem of console user just kamikaze'ing into the ground after getting 2 kills with there m8 rockets, and when they take a plane and waste is, it ruins the immersion, and is a waste of anti tank, and anti infantry killing. Edit: in the gameplay the player Matilda1Gerry is a nerd...why...for spamming gl's and constantly knocking themselves with them....what...a...nerd

Saw lots of people, most6on allies ise grenade launching rifles and impact grenades and spamming them into German defense lines! Never even see them use guns to clear out objectives!

How do you solve grey zone tanks? You get on a plane and bomb it. The people complaining about grey zone tanks are the same people who were happy when wood became bulletproof and HE-absorbent.
