Starting is a skill. There should be a reward for that skill. I feel the same way about auto blip in road racing. That's a major skill, it shouldn't be eliminated by device/electronics.

Went to San Diego Snapdragon stadium yesterday and watched live for the first time in years. Four strokes have ruined the experience, the sound of a group of two strokes hitting the rev limiters and the separation of who could and who couldn't make obstacles. Scrap the hole shot device and ability to have multiple ecu mappings. Otherwise let's just have the bikes raced with robots aboard controlled by lottery selected fans in attendance.

Should be required to run a single map through the whole day. No special map to pass sound, and then another for starts and another for racing. One map.

Holeshot device isnt even the main issue, its the consequence of what is the actual issue, its the grates, they wouldnt be going that deep if the grates werent there, that unloads the rear, you get less traction, the entire point of it is to help keep the front end down with how much traction they have on starts. We need to get rid of some of the traction. Get rid of the grates. You can limit the height but the height just isnt the main issue, its the consequence of the grates being there, they never used to pull this deep before when it was dirt only.

Yeah I don't know the whole history behind their existence, like if at one point some guys ran them and some didn't but I feel like since everyone runs them now there's not really an advantage over the other riders? Might as well just go back to everyone not running them, doesn't seem like they positively affect the saftey of the sport. I don't think we have to worry about any of the top guys looping out on the gate without them lol

So what is the device on KTM group bikes on the left fork tube? Looks like a small wire stretched tight going from the brake caliper area up to a solenoid looking gizmo below the lower clamp, saw at A2 on Mookies, Sextons and Bam Bams bikes.

Theres no advantage if everyone is running it so get rid the Holeshot device and grate starts and if possible the start mapping get back to who has the most skills and reward those that get good heat race results to make get pick more important that just getting inside

The front tire like I did way back in 95 when I took it to Yamaha and they ripped me my device disconnects after the front brake is let off. I have no idea why Jeremy isn’t talking about that. I’m sure if he remembers me. I’m Randy Lawrence‘s cousin. He asked me about that device way back in 95 at Glen Halen, he didn’t know how I spend the front tire by lowering the bike. Well guess what I got ripped off and they’re not spinning the front tire and they can get it as low as they want it if they did that, so what the hell is it time that I finally got recognized for my lowering device for the starts? @@Povertycab well for one I'm older than those guys on the gate now, but I have raced the pro class here in Canada, I've never had the opportunity to race in the States but have started against guys that raced SX and have started better than them without any holeshot device. But I'm still not sure what that even has to do with me thinking we should get rid of starting devices, and I'm not sure why I have to be more skilled than everyone for my opinion to matter.

The holeshot device is nothing new. I was using one in 2005 as an amateur. The grates are stupid though. Vince Friese pulled a holeshot from the far inside line, WTH??? That’s no good.

There's is no separation because just like you said it's dangerous. Races bike should be engineered to be the best at racing. So if a hole shot device is "unsafe" or a detriment in some way its not the best bike for the job and the problem will solve itself. I hate how innovation is shunned in motorsports.
