06:57 Q2. Their nationality doesn't matter?

It seems pretty rational from their perspective to be wary of immigrants. I definitely have felt embarrassed to be American in Korea sometimes because of how my counterparts disregard the customs and culture of Korea in a disrespectful manner, and that kind of stuff only serves to worsen the overall opinion of immigrants in general in Korea. But other than that I've never felt too estranged by Koreans despite clearly not being one.

we are having this conversation right now in Australia. Low birth rate, labour and skills shortages, and not enough infrastructure and housing to support more immigrants is getting /australians very unsettled. Great to discuss this. Its not racist, unfreindly to want to feel like you have some kind of control over your own borders, and your own culture. Its sensible. and people who say well they shouldn't advertise Korea is open to immigration. Everyday Koreans don't make policy, like in this video they are trying to get their head around a difficult problem Immigration has to be done right If you are chilling with the politicans that came up with the idea - yeah you would expect friendly banter - but its everyday working Koreans you will touch base with and they didn't make policy. we have increased our immigration numbers astronomically whilst we currently don't have asequate housing for Australians - drastic homelessness problem and sky high rental prices, issues with water etc. Its a really important conversation to have. There are many ways of satisfying labor shortages - look around the world Arab states do it very differently, china protects its culture and values stringently. its O.K. its your country. Really important topic to explore thanks

As Koreans, our efforts to maintain our traditions and morals are already being discussed a lot in our country. We already know that our country's immigration policy is strict (including the naturalization test, which can be difficult even for Koreans), and that most immigrants who pass it respect law and order. As shown in the video, I think efforts are needed from both sides. Rather than simply xenophobia or racism, our society must be prepared to respect others more and build trust.

Korea would be wise to consider immigration carefully. It is far easier to turn someone bad than it is to turn someone good. Cultural influence goes both ways. If immigrants who lack good character, good values, good work ethics and respect were let into Korea it will have a devastating effect on Korea. The requirements for immigration must be rigorous and continuous for permanent residency/long-term resident visas. Koreans are too easy to accept foreigners. Sometimes foreigners come to Korea not because they admire the culture, but because they can take advantage of the culture.

they should be able to live together - in Jerusleum in the past 3 religions mixed peacefully together, in Spain, jews muslims and christians lived in peace at different times. The key here - si its too easy for Public opnion to be swayed. trouble makers inset fear of one particular religion and culture and it catches like a wildfire and next thing ists a disaster. we should, but we don't. we had a pretty much dominant monoculture for 200 years post-colonization, we accepted increasing number of immigrants - people flee here loving our democracy, freedom of speech, welfare and health care and Peace - free from hate. BUT the trouble is some cultures and individuals can't move on - they bring their hate a bias with them and threaten our peaceful stability. Korea needs to stay very strong in who it allows in.

Personally, in my opinion, South Korea does not need to accept immigrants because South Korean people cannot possibly live side by side with foreigners because they are homogeneous and conservative. The only Asian country that doesn't want to accept many immigrants is South Korea, while there are 100 thousand South Koreans living in other countries. It's a little strange when South Koreans complain about immigrants in the country but those South Koreans don't realize that there are so many South Koreans in other countries.I think this kind of thing is quite egoistic and self-serving except for South Koreans who are general

I don't know if one of the interviewees is islamophobic or a bit too concerned about the culture of his homeland. There's really no hate about my opinions but I think always both sides should cooperate... As per considering a Muslim,we are also instructed by our religion to never impose our religion on others. It's just that the Muslim ladies or people practice their Islamic teaching and many Koreans being curious ask or search about it or are interested in it. I don't think Islam is a harm to any of the non-Muslim countries as they think. In today's world Muslim people are also getting out of the shell and interacting with different people. There are both Muslims and non- Muslims who bear grudge against one another but I think they should be rational and respect eachother's decisions and practices. If you don't want to adopt eachother's culture or teachings, it's fine. You can ignore the other rather than provoking them by insulting their perceptions. I know this too that all people cannot be good ones, and educated and well aware but still I hope we could turn the world in a peaceful place by at least eliminating the hate bcz of religions. -In the end,we Muslims hope more people to explore and even enter Islam but it's neither forceful nor an obligation. We can just explain the perspective of the religion to exclude misunderstandings. I hope even if people don't like our religion then can let go of the hatred against Islam and just live as peaceful beings.❤

I lived in Seoul back in '82-'83 and it was just us GIs, a few embassy people and millions of Koreans -very few foreigners in Seoul. I remember when venturing out of Itaewon, koreans would stare at me like I was from Mars, not mean looks, but very curious (Note: this was before the Internet or even satellite TV). S. Korea is to be congratulated for the unmatched progress they've made in so many areas. However, my wife (who's Korean) and I would never consider living there full time until the "one million pound gorilla" threat is resolved: N. Korea is heavily armed and war could resume at any time. If you think what happened in Israel this past weekend was bad or what's going on in Ukraine is horrible--an NK invasion would make those massacres look like picnics.

Well, I am for diversity and different cultures blending together but there are problems with it. in America, it is very diverse and thus there is a lot of division. Many immigrants want to come to America and bring their culture with them which is OK but instead of them trying to blend their culture with American culture they try to eradicate American culture. From my observation, they try to change American culture to what the culture it was where they came from instead of blending. that causes bitterness and rivalry. Which I think shares a large part as to why there is so much violence in America. Because each group don’t want to blend with the other group they want to come to America and keep the culture that they had when they left. It doesn’t work and thus has caused much division. so I think that is something that Korea needs to slowly and safely try to do like the elderly man said. Or Korea will no longer be the safe country that it is today… they will end up with the same violence that America has😢

What a hell those people must go back to their country if they are insulting woman on the street. Too much robberies they dare to steal. Little bit immigration it’s ok but when it’s become too much government can’t manage and country is becoming a big mess. Some migrant are integrated but some are making troubles too much. Government must be strict toward them and not giving resident card and nationality. In Asia they are managing as well! But In Europe it’s hard.

Korea would need to be VERY careful about the immigration topic however. I have seen the damage that mass migration does in America, and god only knows what would happen to beautiful cities like Seoul. Korea would need to pull off a delicate balance between accepting other people in and also protecting their culture and language. I think immigration is something that should be hard, but as long as you can conform to the standards of the place you want to go, learn their language and actually contribute, theres nothing against it. That way, you avoid the great replacement AND you also avoid cultural turf wars. You'd also need to make sure that they aren't from a dangerous nation. If it's an American family or a German Family, you probably won't have any issues.(not to be racist btw) But, if its people from the middle east, you may have issues.

Unfortunately, Korea has no choice but to incorporate immigrants into their society and workforce. Its either that or perish economically and socially. Will the process be easy? It wont, it never is, especially for homogeneous societies like this one. Korea will def have to ensure their culture and language doesnt get lost in the process. Korea should be accepting of more immigration but not to EVERYONE but SELECTIVE IMMIGRATION. The problem with places like the United States is that they have brought in people from all over WHOLESALE without gradually INTEGRATING them into what makes an American society, AMERICAN. So now in the United States, we have all kinds of ethnic communities here that are disparate and broken from the cohesiveness that being under an AMERICAN society should bring. People here of different ethnicities call themselves "American" but have no clue what it means to BE American, because they have forgotten the ROOTS of American culture that stems from CHRISTIAN VALUES. South Korea should always remember that they are a HOMOGENOUS country with CORE VALUES and CULTURE that is DISTINCT and that should NEVER be lost because then what the hell is it for to be Korean in the first place? Do you want Koreans to just disappear and be "absorbed" into a global smogeshborg and mishmash of everything jumbled together? That kind of existence is what the globalist are pushing but it kills CREATIVITY, kills INDIVIDUALITY and IDENTITY. South Korea should NEVER lose it's identity. If people want to immigrate to South Korea, it should be those people who share Korean values and wants to integrate into Korean Culture. That doesn't mean they give up their home country's culture but it does mean they should NOT be allowed to subvert/drastically change the existing KOREAN CULTURE that exists now. For example, look at the example of the Arabs who recently protested against Israel IN SOUTH KOREA, after Israel JUSTIFIABLY went to war against HAMAS for brutally killing their citizens; men, women, children and BABIES! They actually were pro HAMAS TERRORISTS! Do you want that kind of SHIT coming into South Korea and taking a foothold there? DO YOU? Exactly. The South Korean government should take a more ACTIVE part in vetting the countries that they allow immigrants to flow in from, who SHARE SOUTH KOREAN VALUES and support the countries which South Korea is ALLIED WITH, such as ISRAEL. IF these immigrants TRULY want a better life and want to come to South Korea, then I am absolutely sure they will be willing to INTEGRATE with South Korean society, culture and mindset. Otherwise, honestly, South Korean don't need these types of immigrants there. LOL I am absolutely certain if you ask Koreans living in the United States, if they want South Korea to become a country like the United States being multicultural, it will be an ABSOLUTEL NO. Koreans who have lived abroad understand the importance of having an ETHNIC IDENTITY and CULTURE that they can be identified with and the confidence that brings as a cohesive group among the masses of people that are out just "out" there. Something I think Americans are losing quickly and sadly. And LASTLY, do you think that the "safety" that South Korean enjoy of leaving your bags and stuff openly in cafes and the helpful attitude that Koreans will have will survive a changing culture influence largely from an inflow of immigrants? I mean seriously LOOK at the countries that they are coming in from. Those countries are NOT like South Korea where people respect other people's things. They STEAL more, they are more outwardly VIOLENT in some respects...etc... Like that last girl in this video is utterly stupid and have no fucking clue what it is like living outside of South Korea obviously. She is the classic symbol of the NAIVE. I think a LOT of Koreans are really NAIVE when it comes to how other country's are vs how safe and easy they really have it in South Korea.

It's true, so many Koreans think too highly of places like the US, Europe, Australia, Canada, etc. There are tons of degenerates in those countries who have no respect for public good and they can't live without the drugs. Koreans are quite naive and do not cherish the safety they enjoy daily in their country. The very concept of leaving anything unguarded in countries outside of Korea is just asking for it to be stolen.
