Are Kilts Rebel Fashion? Should Punks, Goths or Metalheads Wear Kilts?

I'm a daily Utilikilt wearer, and I was at a metal show recently where I saw a guy wearing a "battle kilt" (read: utility kilt covered in band patches). He was wearing it backwards and I considered approaching him about it, but I didn't have an opportunity to do so where I didn't feel like it'd risk embarrassing him in front of his friends....but hey, if you happen to see this comment and you were at the Insomnium show in Cambridge, MA last month, pleats go in the back!

I wore a kilt when I saw A Hawk and a Hacksaw, a US duo playing Eastern influenced folk. That was in Brighton, UK. Also many times at festivals and other folk band gigs. Most of the time I'm the only guy in a kilt.

I just wore Passion of Scotland kilt to The English Beat + Adam Ant, and got a lot of compliments. I’ve worn Black Isle kilt to The Mercury/Machineworks (goth club in Seattle), and Nordic Heritage kilt to Mia x Ally concert followed by visit to the Coffin Club (goth club in Portland, OR). No negatives- always got at least a few compliments or more. I’ll likely wear a kilt tomorrow night at Bow Wow Wow (80s wave and punk band) concert.

I saw a cosplay guy dressed as a Klingon, the makeup was as good as the movies. The only difference, he wore a Kilt. It looked Awesome….

I wore a kilt to a Devin Townsend (Prog Metal) show. Devin both times said that I was the first person to wear a kilt to any of his shows.

I wore my Gunn Clan tartan kilt while at concerts at both the Central NY Scottish Games and Niagara Celtic Heritage Festival. The music was mostly celtic with some rock mixed in.

I wore my Black Watch 8 yard to the Copenhell Metal Festival here in Denmark I wore my K&C 5 yard to Dropkick Murphys, Rumjack, Pennywise concert I wore my Moffat Clan 5 yard to danish Royal Symponic Orchestra performance of John Williams music I bought at black utility kilt that I'm intending to make into a "battle kilt"

The hippy movement was always confusing to me. Being a hippy was meant that you did something that was unique to you, acting, dressing, lifestyle etc. But seemed weird but when everyone did it, and it lost its individuality. So it seems counter-intelligent that masses of people were doing their own same thing, together.

went to see bad religion and social distortion in bakersfield in april wearing my utilikilt, battle vest, and 14-hole gripfast steel toes. it was a blast!!!
