Total view count is a bad measurement. That number biases channels that produce multiple short videos as opposed to fewer but longer videos. The most objective measurement would be Total views divided by total videos which would go as follows: David Packman: 226,414,070/14,460=15,658 Paul Joseph Watson: 188,208,943/509= 369,762 Stefan Molyneux: 160,094,106/2,481=64,528 Secular Talk: 309,350,166/ 9,418= 32,847 Steven Crowder: 145,120,056 /444 = 326,847 TYT: 3,449,945,770/28,708= 120,173. Inforwars: 1,241,584,562 /30,839=40,260 According to these numbers Crowder and Watson are by far the biggest channels (most views per video). TYT is bigger then the others but Secular Talk and David Packman are far behind.

Another legit question is whether Kyle and Dave Rubin would have been able to build their youtube channels to what they have today without the support of TYT KZbin is not a free marketplace of ideas. Without support and promotion from other channels there is next to zero chance of a youtuber being able to make it - no matter how good he is. These "promotions" are distortions in a free and fair marketplace and exclude those who have not networked, regardless of the quality of their content. True , its not too different to the real life free market - and most of us recognise what a load of bullshit that 'free' market serves us.

This is stupid, you shouldn't be looking at total views but at how many views a channel got in the past month perhaps, or how many views their average video is getting in the last month etc. This is what's relevant. If you go by total views there's a bias to channels that have been around longer, that pump out videos faster, and channels that have been consistently relatively popular or were popular in the past. These huge right wing channels which consistently get hundreds of thousands of views on each video nowadays absolutely do crush every left wing channel (EVEN TYT) in views per video, and there are several of them but all surged in popularity pretty recently. These channels are also growing a lot faster at the moment, look at how many subs they're getting compared to the left wing channels. This is about CURRENT POPULARITY not about how long the channels have been around and how popular they were in the past.

I think one of the problems is that there is a rise of not only rational conservative voices that point out genuine flaws in the some of the left, there is a lot of self-professed left that only does that content too, like Dave Rubin, who I still like, and Saigon of Akkad. They do bring a lot of good points, but they make it seem like there is no such thing as a rational left with people like Kyle and David who understands those flaws with some of the left and don't agree with them, but still are genuine leftists with balance in their content. I also think conservatives are winning the name-calling battle which I think is stupid, but very influential to those new to politics because if that's all they see in the comments then it makes it seem like we are actually losing, just because we don't want to participate in that

The problem is that to SOME people on the left people that disagree with identity politics are considered right wing, even though they are liberal and support liberal policies. When you put everyone who doesn't line up 100% ideologically with you on the "other team" it's not surprising that you find yourself outnumbered pretty quickly. For example I believe that universal healthcare is an obviously good idea. Also, for example I disagree with gender/race based quotas in principle because by discriminating in favor of a group you are by definition discriminating against another. I consider myself a liberal, I have been called a right wing/alt right conservative.

The problem with Sargon is he has spent so long seeing SJWs as the enemy in a massive culture war that he has blinded himself to the other enemy, the members of the right wing social justice warriors (as Kyle puts it). A long time ago I remember Sargon made a video commenting on a book by Hayek (think it was Road to Serfdom) where Hayek commented that in the past, the Nazis and Communists despite being different in aim, would fight over the same kind of people, the ones willing to follow a band wagon and label their enemies as embodying a culture war. I can honestly say, KZbin is providing me with all my favorite Progressive talking heads: Chris Hedges "On Contact." Prof Richard Wolff, "Democracy at Work." TYT Politics w/Jordan and Emma. Thom Hartmann, Glenn Greenwald, Noam Chomsky..... the list goes on and on. I can zip thru an entire week's worth of information via different venues. BTW, I also love both David Pakman and Kyle's shows. Kyle gets a little fringe for my taste, but he stays rational, provides details I don't always get by more (dare I say conservative) Progressives. There's also an important filter worth mentioning: the KZbin recommended videos section. If you're a person who regularly watches Alex Jones, Paul Joseph Watson, Ben Shapiro, Stephen Crowder etc videos, then these are the kinds of topics and videos that you're going to constantly be seeing on the right-hand column of your screen and on your KZbin home page. So if the author of this article happened to watch those kinds of videos more often, it could simply create the illusion that there aren't any left-wing KZbinrs out there when, in reality, this conclusion is based upon selection bias.

Total views is a horrible metric for popularity. It's havily skewed by how long the channel has been active and how many videos it posts a day. If you for instance posted your show as a single segment you wouldn't have 20% of your total views. The fact that you would even suggest this makes me lose trust in your integrity.

One problem with youtube is that it's a giant echo chamber. They analyze your watching habits and show you things based on what you like. If you're a conservative, who watches conservative videos on youtube - that's probably the vast majority of what youtube recommends for you. Which would make you think the right dominates youtube.

The Fan made Justice Democrats video, with Jimmy Dore, Cenk, and Kyle in it.
