We booked son matias palma nova 29 March, 453 per person, half board, flights , transfers included with tui we think thats a bargain, weather us usually nicexwarm and sunny, and we like out of season so why not, its cheaper than Cornwall these days. We could pay anything above 1k for a cottage and that's no food and petrel costs, and eating and drinking out in Cornwall has rocketed, so much cheaper going to palma nova❤

I’ve booked for early October for 2 weeks half board plus staying at the Leonardo Hotel palma Nova bay, for 2 adults 2 kids for under 3k which I think is a absolute bargain considering flying from our local airport which is always more expensive than the next closest ones, it’s also covering the Scottish school October break, so I’m happy with the deal I’ve got as it has gone up significantly in price now, can’t wait to return as not been to Majorca since 2012 when I stayed in Alcudia.

I work at a school as a cleaning supervisor. Unfortunately have to have school holidays. I really shop around May has gone very expensive but we choise April Easter and October you can get some good deals

We’re off to Barbados for two weeks next month as we’ve done many years. Private villa in Holetown,pool,gardens electric gated,4 adults £1000 each ,BA return flights £1200 for a couple. Works out £1600 each for two weeks in paradise.

This is a great vlog Alex. It's exactly the same predicament we are in at the minute. We have a voucher we were given from Jet 2 as compensation for £150 also they are doing £200 of if you register your email with them for free and then a further £60 off. Even with those discounts to do an all inclusive holiday in Palma Nova with Jet 2 out of season in April for a 3 star hotel with bad reviews from Northern Ireland is coming out around £1300 for 2 people total. I know that seems good but when you look into the hotels being offered at those prices they have terrible reviews. The hotels we stayed at before in Mallorca have great reviews and we loved them and prices were good but they either are not being offered this year or cost double the price. I do think us travelling from Northern Ireland has a lot to do with it too as it costs a lot more to fly from here. It's a shame as we love Mallorca but feel we are priced out this year. We like to keep main cost of holiday down like the flight cost so we have more spending for while we are in resort. We like to hire a car and travel the island too and like to eat out a few nights as a treat even when all inclusive. If we have to spend so much to get there and stay in reduces our budget to spend locally which is a shame as we only enjoy a few pool days but we prefer the beach and to explore. We only have til 28th of Feb to use our voucher but are struggling to find somting at our price in May so wish us luck as we would love to visit Mallorca again this year🤞 Thanks for all the tips and great informative Vlog xx❤

Going to playa de muro for first time mid September, 2 adults for 10 nights self catering £2007, includes upgrade to Seaview room as usually go to Crete which is now crazy prices. Think price is reasonable considering what we paid for Crete last year. Out of curiosity just priced exact same holiday if we'd have left it until now to book & its £3280. No way would i pay that for Spain, I'd be going to the Caribbean.

We (2 adults 2 children) have been visiting Mallorca since 2019 flying from Manchester going in August all inclusive each time and it's costs between £4000-£4500 and hasn't really changed in price each year. Booking early as possible saves us we booked to go in August this year last year and since then the holiday has gone up £600 in the space for around 4 months

No matter what the price is to visit Mallorca, it will never stop us from visiting twice a year. It is my happy place! In particular, Cala Millor. We arrive beginning of May for 2 weeks, this cost us £1900 for 2 adults half board in an adults only 4+star hotel in Cala Millor. Then additional spending money of £1200 for the 2 weeks. With airport parking we are looking at £3300 for a two week holiday. Thought that was a pretty good deal for the quality of hotel, food and bars and restaurants we visit ❤ absolutely love Mallorca and it is such a short and convenient flight!

We all know it's not going back to past years' pricing .Not too many years ago, it was SOS our tourism , looking at the weather in this video looks good to me .Maybe you should interview some locals regarding the long close down . We are living in Germany. Here if you travel with kids during school year you can be stopped by police on airport and get fine up to 2500€. Anyway... We booked our holidays in first half of January, so first minute deals. 2 weeks, 18 August to 1 September - so like end of main season. 2 adults+2kids, 3 star All inclusive hotel in Alcudia/Playa de Muro, flight and transfers = 5900€ (with current exchange rate around 4900£)

There are bargains out there. Ive just got 5 nights SC in cala d'Or for £170, in late April. The day before and the day after were £50-£100 more expensive. I find Jet2 so expensive, so love holidays, sunshine or on the beach are much much cheaper.

We have booked May abc September which we do every year. But the hotel is twice the price for September than May for just bed and breakfast. I book with the hotel directly as I have points for booking directly which helps a bit with the price but this year it’s really gone up.

We don't have JET2 at Gatwick or Heathrow, they also stated on their home page that they have no plans to do so, they will fly from small airports that cost money to get to, so add that to the cost of the holiday and its not so cheap to use JET2.

We got permission 12 month in advance to take our granddaughters out of school in term time to attend a family wedding from the school , they authorised some of the holiday 3 days we were away for 10 days but we still got fines of £80 per child as legislation changed in August 24 we went in September 24. I’m afraid some children don’t have a chance of going away on holiday due to rising costs in term time and I think life experiences are very important and missing 10 days of school won’t do them any harm.

Greedy tour operators, hotels and flight companies taking advantage of parents having little choice if they don’t want to be fined . I’ve just read, first “offence” £80 per child. I’d pay that rather than the bloated prices . Took my kids regularly on a weeks holiday outside school holidays in the days when no one got fined, but not near or during exam times of course , and they didn’t “ suffer “ from the loss from valuable education, both went to top Unis and are doing very well for themselves. How do they know anyway,is there school police at airports now or checking at your house?

Hi. We visit every June. Last year we paid £600 - £640 per person for 5 nights in Tent Palma Nova with Jet2. This year we've paid £495 - £540 per person in same hotel with Jet2. Only difference is, we've moved flights from Wednesday morning to friday afternoon. So there are some deals if you shop around. I booked these over Christmas when not many are booking and have noticed that the price now as gone from £540 upto £678 for exactly the same holiday. So I guess it's all about timing and shopping around. Keep up the good work. I'll give you a shout if we see you.

I live nr Wakefield West Yorkshire, and the school holidays are a joke I've 2 kids one in high school and another one in junior school and are less than half a mile from each other and they have different holidays so I still get fined going in terms time as other one is ment to be in school it's brutal as don't want to pay August prices so we go in June but we have had to pay nearly double to go in August this year as been fined a few times ,

I am lucky we don't have kids yet but I really think the schools or out of order for fining parents. As for people without kids like my self deal are still there we was able to snap up two great deals from TUI saving £400, 2 weeks Can Picafort 1st of June All-Inclusive at a basic hotel and 2 weeks All-Inclusive in palm nova end of September totaling £3900. We had to move the days and flights about a little bit but you can still find good deals I think. Plus the £400 off at TUI really helped. And I love Mallorca and would hate not to be able to visit the island as it holds great memories for me

As a side note, now that the U.K. gov has given itself unauthorised access to pensioners bank accounts , they’re also stopping pension payments and/ or additional benefits if pensioner spends more than a total of 4 weeks per year abroad .

To be fair Alex there is a fine line between profit & loss as you know, but I don't really blame any company for maximising profit when they can. Airlines mostly make a loss in winter time and rely on peak months to sustain their existence. As long the holiday price doesn't become obscene, then balance is the key word here. I never take any notice of the BBC Alex and seriously haven't listened to them for years.

There are bargains to be had but I think you need to book early or be very flexible. I always book my main summer holiday around a year in advance. With regards to school fines, I’ve never been fined yet and even if I were, the cost would still be less than the huge difference in costs during the school holidays. I don’t travel overseas in July or August, it’s just too expensive.

Are Mallorcans going to take a pay cut to make holidays cheaper? Or may be they want their tax increased to subsidise it... i.e. the problem is with people wanting too much ;)

I think Tui are a bit cheaper than jet2, every were have gone up so if you want a beer for a couple of euros go to tenerife but you can't beat majorca 🤡☘☘☘

We used to go to Mallorca almost every year between 2007-18 but noticed large increases each year. Didnt go back until 2022 and haven't since. That said, everywhere is ridiculously priced. Oct/Nov 2023 5 adults, 3 kids, 12 nights, £8k it cost in Lanzarote All Inclusive. Last year Fuerteventura, 8 nights, £4k self catering. Same people and this year, Salou, same people B&B only, £9k, 11 nights. Next tine we'll do a villa. Hotels are ridiculous now.

Alex you say the € a pint days are gone in Mallorca but you have ask why is it some places in Spain can do this? Looking at Tenerife or mainland in a cost comparison there’s a large gulf. Jeremy Vine talks out his backside,

Of course it’s more expensive, it’s Mallorca after all. Look at the prices of the properties there to buy etc….Still worth every penny to us 🩷😎

Unfortunately for us yes. We are not coming over this year. Next year we are going to the mainland and for the equivalent holiday it’s 30-40% cheaper.
