I would say that our problems offensively are almost as bad as defensively. if the centre backs block out haaland which is not that hard with his current form, city have no real threat on goal. Sure you have savinho and doku but 9 times out of 10 they will dribble past full backs and cut the ball back, not shoot on goal. I honestly hate watching us pass the ball around the oppositions 16 yard box and hoping something happens.

How the hell there are six people attacking the opposition backline yet Haalland is the only one who is scoring goals and Rest can't even create a half decent chance for him. City is missing a goalscorer like Mahrez , Alvarez and Sterling because they have signed decent players like Doku and Savio but I don't think they are lethal in front of goals and Savinho might take whole Season even to break his duck

I remember in the watch along vs Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup. Many people were saying they didn't care about the result and that we'd played our B Team but the cracks were becoming more and more apparant. Arsenal showed us that we dont really have a creative treat and its becoming more of a norm that we will keep passing the ball left to right and right to left. Turn overs of possession are finishing us and having us butchered in the transition. We really need to shake things up in January otherwise we really should forget about another title with the way we are playing

We absolutely need to get to January and maintain... or rather shorten this distance from Liverpool (first in the league at the moment)... let's hope for good news... related to injuries... contract renewals... at the moment of difficulty we need to stay together as much as possible... and not disunite... we need a shock from one of the team members... who can get us back on track... and rediscover that right mentality that it belongs to us... for the rest... if there was the possibility... in January... IMHO City’s problems are simply fatigue, look at the games or lack of breaks since Covid. Players cannot play at the levels City play at without the break between seasons to simply allow the body to naturally recover. I think City’s current problems will spread throughout the top clubs as the season progresses.

Great analysis as always, lad. The Rodri hole is only as big as it is because we still play Haaland. You mentioned Haaland only once or twice, I think using the term 'of course Haaland starts'; however, I believe the Rodri injury has highlighted the Haaland problem from 24 months ago at the start of the Treble season when we began to struggle and Pep had to adjust. The only reason we were able to paper over the problem of how does Erling fit into a Guardiola team was the power and resolve of Rodri. Without Rodri, that issue rears its ugly head again. Now, I don't know what kind if contractual situation exists in relation to proportion of games Erling starts, but I'd be trialling reverting to the false 9 set up that worked as well as anything prior to signing him. That hole in midfield shrinks if we do this, and Kova, Gubdogan, Nunes, and like you say Gvardiol or Stones could cover this role with slightly less pressure. Of course, playing like that all the time would mean Haaland would be sold. I mean, isn't that inevitable anyway?

I agree that its not purely down to rodri, more forward players, more direct wingers who will inevitably turn the ball over more compounds the issues. From peps view, imo he will want to stop the turn overs before he looks at changing the way the team play. Dont be surprised he starts to look at more pausa wingers when available to try and stop the turnover

With the FFP case looming I think city are walking a tight rope with signings, not looking to add +1 charge for the 24/25 season especially seeing as we're battling the PL itself they might choose to play dirty. I dont see us making a signing in January and the aftermath of Rodri blow is devastating. Hopefully KDB gets more gametime and stays injury free so the defense can focus on defence.

In my opinion with regular game time players like Matheus Nunes and Savinho will massively improve and start contributing more, a solid double pivot of Kova+Rico/Kova+Gundo to cover for Rodri with a fit KDB behind Haaland will cause teams tons of problems. I think the attack just wasnt good enough with a single CAM(that wasn't de bruyne) City usually played with 3 or 4 players attacking simultaneously because Rodri covered so much defensively

Too many of these players have stayed too long they simpldint have fuel left to compete as simple as that, only that can save their season is they have to have chalsea esque winter window, opening up coffers just get that talent pool, minimum three signings are needed, cdm, forward to help Haaland in goals, right sided defender with pace to give stability

Icl the injuries are the only setbacks we have, the system pep is still trying to instil is slightly revealing it’s weaknesses, our defence system lately has been very poor, with the absence of Dias, stones and such, we don’t have defensive prowess, our newcomer Savio seems out of place when playing eve when he tries his best, no doubt he’s talented but players like him need freedom, for players like Doku without a shadow of doubt we need him crazy wether people lie it or not, his pace ad tricky dribbling adds pressure than anyone in the EPL usually making space constantly which all attackers, Haaland savio etc can exploit, I really think much has to change but let pep do pep😅
