Living in the US, I went to Ireland and the U.K. this past summer and I can tell you the McDonald's over there are way different tasting than the ones in the US. First of the chicken is way better an juicier in the UK/Ireland compared to the US and the beef is a lot better tasting too. To me it seems that the McDonald's in the UK/Ireland are more fresher tasting and it didn't taste fake like it does back here in the states.

I live in Kentucky (U.S.A) I'm 17 and I work at a McDonald's because I like to have spending money while I'm in high school. And I have to say something important. I hate it when people make fun of McDonald's employees, you don't know the pain of standing in one potion for 8 hours a day. And if you come up to me talking rude saying your orders wrong, I will take it back and male it worse, it Pisces me off how people come there for heartattacks who think they are more superior then us. But the truth is, we're not the ones who are gonna die because type 2 diabetes and heart attacks. You might ask why, well if you work at fast food you get too see the horrors of how they treat the resteraunt and they way food is prepared. I think it's disgusting how it takes 5 minutes to fry chicken nuggets. While a hamburger is done in 35 seconds.

I love McDonalds burgers but my science teacher today showed a really interesting video of a normal burger and a McDonald's burger! Over a space of time, the normal burger moulded quickly, where as the McDonald's burger and chips took ages and ages to mould due to the amount of preservatives which are out into the meat

AmericanPixel similar process, the 'sludge' that goes into nuggets is called MSM mechanically separated meat. Its reasonable cuts of chicken, mainly wings and thighs. that go through a crusher that through squeezing separates meat from bone. Its why it comes out gungy because the muscle fibres are damaged in the process. I know this because I've been to a poultry slaughter house and processing factory as part of my doctorate in veterinary medicine. I've looked at all the machines working. I asked the guy where they distribute the MSM to and funnily enough he said McDonalds.

I think the fact that the burgers are deep frozen is what makes them so different from fresh burgers that you get from the butchers and cook at home. Obviously for mcdonalds as a popular fast food place they can't really be expected to have all fresh ingredients and creating the burgers in this way is more convenient, but explains the change in texture and taste.

No, why should they? Salad, onion etc. isn't something that can carry potential disease. Raw meat is, which is the only place they'd have to use it. Also, it's required to wash your hands at least once every 60 minutes and working with any wounds on your hands/arms is forbidden. Quit being dramatic over nothing please.

Lily FLittle known fact gloves are considered to be less hygienic in the food business where good hand washing practices are followed. Simply becuase someone wearing gloves will take little notice of any grime, juices or grease while someone with bare hands will likely wash them if anything nasty ended up on them. Also have you ever worked in a kitchen the chefs finger almost every part of the food to serve it perfectly.

Anthony Huynh i couldn't show everything otherwise this would be a feature length film! but the frozen beef is the same as the fresh beef, except it's frozen first before being ground up and added at the same point the fresh meat is ground up. if I recall, they mix 70% lean meat with 90% lean meat to get a controlled total lean meat to fat ratio of something around 80% (i don't recall the exact figure, but it's not unreasonable). and yes they gave me the same diagram used in the tv advert so it would be consistent and so i had the rights to use it - if you google for a diagram, there's a lot of different ways of dividing up a cow depending on the country/area/breed etc and i wouldn't have the rights to use an image i got off google. hope that helps :)
