For everyone that's jumping to the comments saying I'm wrong about the camber thing - you're right. Oops. Lol

That Supra is in excellent shape. Listen to how nice the door shuts at 1:50. Anyone who's owned one will know, lol

I learned to drift in a Crown Victoria so I don't mind drifting a heavier car like my 3700lb MK3... but I would never risk it... that's what the 240s used to be for 😅

I actually got negative camber when I lowered my mk3
@DoctoredGarage2 жыл бұрын
You're like the 3rd person that's said this, makes me really want to go get one on an alignment rack again. I wonder if there was something wrong with the one that I was working on years ago lol
@kriscarr89322 жыл бұрын
My guess could be the lowering kit too

I was thinking that on Evan's car here, he addressed any issues with the control arms he installed.

You need slick tires to drift right? Slick smooth tires. So they don't grab on the ground
@DoctoredGarage2 жыл бұрын
It's more of a balance. You don't want no grip, you also don't want too much grip.
@justinortega74093 жыл бұрын
Wrong, suspension definitely goes negative front and rear, I know because I have a slammed mk3 supra
@DoctoredGarage3 жыл бұрын
What mods have you done to slam it? I'll see if I can find one locally and slap a camber gauge on it. If I'm wrong, that makes these cars a bit more viable :)

Awesome video. Looks like he’s having a blast with the car too! So are the Targa top cars useless for drifting then because of the potential flex? More videos on this set up would be cool
@DocDucky2 жыл бұрын
If you weld a full cage in it it helps with targa flex
@ianspeckmaier9565 Жыл бұрын
The targas are reinforced on the bottom, but they weigh a lot more.
@Purpose_Bilt Жыл бұрын
They also make or at least made a brace for them that replaced the top.

No thats wrong, it goes negative as you compress the suspension. Jack on the arm and observe.
@DoctoredGarage3 жыл бұрын
That's what it should do ideally. But that's not what happens on the MK3 Supra, I believe it's due to the control arm length. It might be fixed on Evans car, I dunno.
@DoctoredGarage3 жыл бұрын
Maybe I mixed up front and rear? It's been a long time since I've worked on an MK3 Supra. I just remember going "wtf that's dumb" when I was working on a buddy's years ago.
@alcyon2sp3 жыл бұрын
@@DoctoredGarage i own one and it doesnt do that. It never goes negative. It goes negative as you lift the car or lower it.i think you read it off a blog
@DoctoredGarage3 жыл бұрын
If I can get access to one locally I will happily make another video showing the camber change on compression.
@DoctoredGarage3 жыл бұрын
For racing, the basic ideal concept is that camber goes negative under compression. If it never goes negative under compression (when lowering the car), that's usually a bad thing.

I've owned mine since 2007. Love it and wouldn't trade it for the world. The values are climbing quickly these days. The secret is out. :(

I mean it is a pretty Japanese build because in Japan they drift like basically stock cars

I've got two of em. One targa and one not. Negative under compression. Positive under decompression. My 89 is that same damn brown interior wise. My 88 is damn blue. Targas are about 70-80 lbs heavier.
