I have paid 80 on a set but the set I use at the moment I paid 50 and I play just as good with my £50 darts than I did when I used the darts that cost me £80 so my thoughts are that doesn't matter how much your darts cost wether you spend big money or little money

I have a set of Harrows Predators that cost me £30 and a set of Harrows Torpedos that cost me £25 (I think) both in the same weight. They are great. Slim enough it fit 3 in the treble and just the right amount of grip. I’ve borrowed more expensive and had either the same or worse results. Once you get past £35 it’s much of a muchness in terms of performance. You are paying for design and makers name. 👍🎯

The main theme of my channel is... "Great darts don't have to cost a lot of money". Luckily all of us have easy access to Darts Corner and they have 100s of darts that cost around $20-$25usd. I honestly don't care how much people spend for their darts as long as they understand that expensive darts WILL NOT make you a better player. I played some of my best darts with $14usd generic 95% tungsten barrels. 👍

Agree, each to their own about how much they spend, but as you say... More expensive won't make you better. However, there is a market here for players who want a flashy set and the brand name, and I'm cool with that 👍🎯

I play tournament locally in the states and if I wanted I could flip a 20$ dart for 45$ quick but I tell them quit spending that and send them in the right direction. Appreciate what you do. I certainly dont want target and shot to drive prices up but you can get beautiful show room darts at darts corner made by shot much less than targets darts and shot is higher quality imo but red dragon or unicorn darts seem to always be spot on

I genuinely fancy that new Target set that’s about £150, I currently play with a set of Target Nathan Aspinall’s they were £40, lovely set of darts, but why not treat yourself to nice things if you can afford them? Like you said about your guitars, I’m the same, you can buy a £500 Epiphone, and it will basically do what a Gibson does, you can play gigs, record a number one album, whatever, it’s not going to hold you back, but if you can afford one, amd want one, and can justify to yourself spending the money, why not go and spend 2 grand on a Gibson? I have a great Epiphone Les Paul, had it 20 years now, but last year I decided to treat myself and bought a Gibson Les Paul, the truth of the matter is, I don’t care what anyone says, the Gibson is just nicer in every way, maybe not better, but nicer. Anyway, great video again 👍

Great comparison. The most I spent on darts is on Target Phil Taylor Power 9Five Generation 6 Swiss Steel Tip 95% (82.95£ without the shipping cost I'm from Belgium, so) And they lay there with all the rest. Used to do archery the bow costs around 1000 euro's my vizier (flemish for somekind of scope) that you can adjust by the milimeter is around 112.5 euro's the arrow's around 10 euro's a piece. So, ... & everything lay's there for more than 10 years now. The darts you can pick up & have a throw at your board. No travelling. For archery you need a stand & enough space. Archery was horizontal 17m & vertical 21m ;-)

Great video and an interesting topic. Darts are pretty cheap compared to my other sport. I cycle as well and just to start with a half decent starter bike is £500 plus all the other bits. What I would say is even though darts is relatively cheap in comparison to other sports, the price of darts continues to rise with the average price now being around the £50 mark. It doesn’t seem as though it’s that great value for money with certain brands and models. I understand that with some models you are paying for the amount of tooling and work that goes into making it, but people being people they will think the more they spend the better they will get or the better the dart is instead of putting in the practice and sticking with the same set. Awesome job. Looking forward to the next video. 👍🎯

Think it was 1989 when I paid £25-30 for a set of Unicorn Titanium Tungsten Bob Anderson darts. Going back to my nipper days, my family paid £39.99 for Atari 2600 video game Defender. Or Pac-Man. Not sure what those prices would be equivalent to these days :) As an increasingly less than occasional cricketer my trusty Slazenger V600 cost £40 from a Sports Direct store some years back. Two years back I picked up a GM Haze Lite for £70. I'm not good enough to justify buying a 5 star GN bat, beautiful though they are. Target have invested a lot in engineering design and set up, the cost of their top end darts reflects that investment. That said, I did get glances at work when I saw £149 cost on the website and said "How much?!?!?". Gut reaction and all that. The top end Target stuff I've seen is very well machined, intricately so in places. Target know their market and much of their machining is copyrighted and/or not easy to reproduce. The most I've paid for a darts set is £65 for Red Dragon Vypers. The sets I use the most cost between £25-40 - Red Dragon, Winmau, and Bulls. It's worth looking at different darts websites to see who's got the best prices - sometimes one vendor will have an offer others don't. Or get your darts at an exhibition, they tend to be cheaper than RRP :) Darts Corner and Red Dragon have clearance sections and there are some cracking non-clearance darts going too. Argos have a 90% tungsten Winmau Navigator darts set going for £15. If you know what works and you've used the previous generations of a player's darts from a manufacturer then ordering online may be fine. Think if I'm going to fork out over £60 for a set I'd want to go to a darts shop and try them in my hand first.

A good set of darts could last years and years. Sure, you can play just as well with a £30 set as you can with a £100 set but, well, it's a bit like snooker cues... once you get to a certain price point, they are very much the same (a straight piece of wood) but the woods becomes more precious and ornate. And, ultimately, if you're using something for years, why wouldn't you want to have the product that you like the look of the most? I have just gotten back into darts after not playing for 10 years. I started off with a clearance section dart that I spend £25 on but I didn't like it much (too heavy and it was a straight barrel which I haven't used before)... so I bought some Paul Lims Gen 3 to try something lighter that was a similar shape to what I'd used in the past. They look amazing and they suit me! I paid £100 for them but I'm very, very happy with them and I'd pay £100 for another set in the future if these went missing, etc.

Not sure about cricket but certainly in golf it has been proven that higher end clubs have an affect on performance. I’m not convinced that would be the same in darts. As you say cheaper ones can just be as good as the dearer ones. I would argue that buying a £100 set wouldn’t make you any better than buying sets at under £20. . In many cases you’re paying for the brand and name I would say.

Since I no longer see a need to collect darts, I can say now my maximum to spend is about £50. Speaking of Target though, I feel the 975 darts are atrociously overpriced. Just because its 97.5% tungsten, I don't see how it fetches over £120+ for the dart, box and Takoma case. I could buy a Harrows Wolfram Infinity for nearly £80 less than a 975.

I wouldn't say they are too expensive, as price can often be attributed to machining, or whether or not it's a player dart. I would say, however, that they are too expensive relative to the market. You can buy a player dart from target for £80, or you can buy something similar from a smaller brand like Bulls, One80, Designa, even the dartscorner brand for £20-£60. I have a set of Target Stephen Bunting G3s which cost me £40. I also have a set of Designa V2 Smoothies which cost me £19. There is no difference in the quality, and I perform equally well with both. They're practically the same barrel and yet the target set is double the price. I think expensive darts are fine for showpieces, but I always advise not to buy expensive darts to play with, unless you know that dart suits you and you know you will use it. I've seen people buy a set of Power95s, try them out, realise they don't suit them, and then never pick them up again. If you are planning to buy an expensive dart to play with and haven't thrown anything similar, either try a cheaper alternative, or see if a friend has a set. And always shop around. If you see a set of Target darts that you like, but are too expensive for you, check Bulls/One80/Designa etc for a similar dart, for much cheaper.

Yes, compared to other sports, Darts is really cheap. I played hockey for a few years and you can easily spend 500€ to 1,000€ for skates alone. A full kits sits easily at 2,000€. Plus the monthly/yearly costs for being allowed to pay. So even 100€ is very cheap compared to hockey. On the other hand, darts are easy to produce. Plastic parts come for a few cents from china, a barrel can be machined in a few minutes. I think the prices are pretty much exactly where they should be

Whoa we don't want to drive prices up but the darts I'm throwing now where 102 GBE. Before that I was throwing 40 GB, I've thrown 20£ darts and loved them ,it depends on how well you like the darts but I think targets launch is overpriced seeing that you can get the same quality for 30-40£ I hope there launch doesn't do well and the prices will go down ,there mark up has to be around 75% at that price. I understand your point about other sports but darts is supposed to be a sport anyone can afford and enjoy. I've been playing for 25 years and I believe target is getting a little bit greedy personally. I own the Phil Taylor's generation 4s and 5s but to be honest the weight difference is way off there match weighted standards and I bought them as collection but imo red dragon and unicorn has the best quality darts and target does gimmick crap like the swiss points and those prices have dropped substantially

Got the first gen Mikuru's as I was one of the few people to think she could win - especially when she was drawn up against Lisa Ashton in the first round of the final Lakeside. about 100quid ... bit rich but they have metallic green paint - sweet metallic green paint. I am sure without the paint or the connection to a world champion or that they were made for the Japanese market primarily they would be just 30 quid or so. I mostly tend to get cheapish clearance darts, mostly - but if no one buys the player darts... then the companies won't sponsor the players?
