I had the same experience. I owned one for 11 years. I spent about 1K a year on maintenance, including tires, and oil changes. It ran like a champ.

I have a 05 LR3, still running great at 207k, love it. On most of the Rover groups the consensus seems to be that the LR3 soundly beats the LR4 in reliability primarily due to the timing chain and crossover pipe issues with the 5.0 LR4. I don't like the LR4 dash, it's much more refined, I like my big chunky LR3 knobs. Also at some point in the LR4 production run a two speed transfer case became optional so that rules out a lot of LR4s from being viable off-roaders.

I picked up a 2005 LR3 SE with the V8 just yesterday. 130k miles, but it has great maintenance records and for $6000 it's a steal. Taking it out to Ocala National Forest later in the month without changing anything. Previous owner already oversized the tires and installed a GAP mod for the suspension. Absolute bargain for the offroad capabilities it has, and it has no right to be so smooth going down the road.

Own a 2008 LR3 SE V8 it now has 104K miles and I love it even with its sometimes pain in the butt gremlins. Glad I saw your videos been looking all over the internet for a better lighting upgrade, will try the company you used let you know how it works out. Nice video!

Waiting on a Defender 130 and have a LR3 HSE 207 with 112,000 Miles. Looks like new runs like new always in a garage never sits outside in sun or winter etc. New compressor at 80k, New control arm bushings ups front. and a new plastic water pump hose junction, new Alternator at around 90k that is about it. Besides changing oil, diff, transmission fluid and pan. No horror stories to tell its been ok, will probably keep it forever. Not sure the newer one will be any better just newer.

My parents had a 2007 lr3 that was at 290k when they sold it new owner sent an odometer pic at 315k a year later!

Absolutely recommend the LR4, if you find one with the 5.0 v8 and no sunroof and the leather plus option (you can tell by the double stitching on the seats) they are just like your lr3 but better. still looks the part and has even more power. I also suggest you look for a 2012 onwards with the 8 speed zf.

issue being the codes P0171 & P0174 system to lean. I have had those codes for 2.5 years. changed all the sensors MAP, MAF, EGR Valve, O2 sensors both front and rear-

I had the same thing. First time ended up being the MAF gasket. I had to use the original MAF as aftermarket didn't work. The second time, it was a bad gas cap
