I’m super late but Stevie Wonder suffered retinitis of prematurity which causes abnormal scarring on the retina in babies who are born too early. He’s not 100 % blind which in vision terms would mean he is unable to detect light (no light perception), legal blindness is a range that spans from unable to detect light to only being able to make out the big E on the eye chart. In Stevie’s case he probably lacks all peripheral vision due to the retinal scarring from ROP and may still maintain some central vision as long as he hasn’t suffered a macula off retinal detachment in both eyes. If you were to take some glasses frame and cover the area for lenses with paper then poke a small hole in the very middle it will give you an idea of what pinhole (central vision only) looks like.
