I can relate to Paul’s friend. My fullest reading experience is when I read along with the audiobook. It gives me the most vivid visualizations. Each separately gives me a blurry picture of what is happening. My son on the other hand, says reading it himself is like watching the action happen through a foggy window, but listening to it brings all the action into focus. 😂

I have a high schooler this year and I can confirm with Tanya that yes I do about six hours of studying to teach him the next week. I love it, but desperately wish for local resources.

As a second gen homeschooler I would love more confidence and encouragement for those moms who are homeschooling through high school. Many of us don’t have resources to outsource, but just like my mom before me I have no intention of doing anything other than homeschool my sons through high school. I also think we put to much emphasis on college prep. Teach your students well. Teach them to communicate well. The college prep will handle itself.

Very good overall. I don’t appreciate all the apprehension about homeschooling high school. We need more people to understand how much the curriculum is written to the student, with an assumption that there is no EXPERT in the room. Yes, out source what the student needs more help with but most of high school - and I mean college prep- is absolutely do-able because the curriculum IS the teacher in homeschooling, very thorough. I feel weary of so many people being afraid of homeschooling high school when it gives that student so much more time for extra curricular activities or jobs or hobbies and SLEEP that can help them be well prepared for making a good decision for their futures.

Yes, it all comes down to comprehension on the part of the individual as they learn from the curriculum. It is liberating for the student. Sure, I need to hold my high schooler accountable and monitor her progress, but I think she is getting incredible exercise in critical thinking and perseverance to see a thing through. In any case, homeschooling is better than the alternatives, in my opinion. I appreciate your comment!

Does MP offer pre recorded videos so the students can watch and learn independently, similar to Abekka/BJU? TIA
@memoriapress2 ай бұрын
Hello! Yes, we offer a variety of pre-recorded videos across many subjects. These videos are, in some cases, a way for students-particularly older ones-to learn independently. This can be especially helpful for subjects where parents may not feel comfortable teaching advanced material, such as Latin or Composition. In other cases, these videos serve as a wonderful complement to our curriculum, although we emphasize that-particularly for younger students-videos should not fully replace the parent's role in a homeschool setting. You can explore all of our video courses here: www.memoriapress.com/streaming/. These courses are also available on our app, and you can learn more about that on the same page!
