The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones in that order(I'm a BIG Led Zeppelin Fan, but The Beatles have to be first, without them nothing will come to manner) Pink Floyd #4? Hard to say with that other British Heavy Weight, The Who. But with those two as #4 & #5 in any order that would be my TOP FIVE BANDS(And that's really hard to make up a list like this, think about it) Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath are next in line in no particular order and what about #10? What about the early Rockers from the 1950's?? Billy Haley and the Comets, Buddy Holly and the Crickets?? Are these real bands or solo artists with a band??? How about Progressive Bands? YES, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake and Palmer? It just goes on and on, but remember this it's only a list. BUT when it comes to the TOP THREE...BEATLES, ZEPPELIN, STONES......BUT THAT'S MY PICK, AND IT'S JUST A LIST. 🎸🎤🎸🥁🕶️

I think one has to put The Beatles in their own category standing alone atop the apex. After that, The Who, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones. Then begin a third level… that is where I would put PInk Floyd, The Kinks, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and The Doors. Everything else follows… would like to see a greatest solo artist ranking sometime… for me… without any doubt, the Thin White Duke himself… David Bowie!

Hey Michael ! As far as being truly original, Pink Floyd are right up there - along with The Beatles & Led Zeppelin - no denying that. I do love Pink Floyd - particularly pre 1975. But if i was to list my 3 fave bands they would be Beatles, Badfinger & Uriah Heep. Zep, Floyd, Stones (1960s version), CCR, Foghat, Masters Apprentices & Fleetwood Mac would be in my top 10.

Michael, I have never been for ranking bands...1, 2, and 3. I tend to put them in a top tier and Pink Floyd is definitely top tier. The burned brightly and so bright that it gave the band a shelf life and a difficult legacy.

Agree 100% these are the three greatest rock groups of all time. Not sure about the order though. It feels automatic to place the Beatles at number 1 but Zeppelin’s 8 studio albums and Floyd’s 5 masterpieces from 1973 to 1983 (yes I include The Final Cut) surely challenge their position. They are the Holy Trinity. After these three you have the Stones (Fred and Barney 😂), the Who, the Kinks, the Beach Boys, the Doors, the Velvet Underground, Bowie, Roxy Music, Steely Dan, U2. 13 classic rock pioneers.

Zeppelin in my book would be number one hands down. Of coarse the Beatles are no two. Where we differ is that I prefer Black Sabbath (Ozzy years) over Floyd. Don't get me wrong , I love Pink Floyd (Pre Wall) But I've always listened to Sabbath more.

Personally I don't put Pink Floyd on the same level as Zeppelin or the Beatles and would put them second tier. They were great but anything before the 'Meddle' album and the early material with Syd Barrett is too "out there" for me and was hit or miss (mostly miss)... Zeppelin IMO is the quintessential true rock band... I like many Beatles songs but never really considered them a true "rock" band and mostly pop with other styles sprinkled in. They were kind of in their own catagory doing their own thing. What they did 60 years ago might have been considered "rock" but not today.

I say (1) The Beatles (2) The Rolling Stones (3) Led Zeppelin. The Stones deserve #2 for the sheer amount of great songs they made. I think Pink Floyd has a better overall album catalog, but The Stones have so many more great songs. I think only The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and maybe Paul McCartney solo, have at least 100 great songs.

Zep #1 (seriously, no one else is close)...Stones #2.....Van Halen #3.....if you are a stoner pick Floyd, everyone who listened to them were serious potheads...you have to be to listen to that stuff for hours on end......Beatles were created as a boy band and hyped to women.... their songs are fucking like nursery rhymes, gimme a break. I can't believe they are so huge.....seriously. It's ridiculous. Plus there was no competition in the 60s. Compare that to the 70s and even 80s. There wasn't even elbow room. If the Beatles were made in the 70s you would never have heard of them.
