I think people are missing the point that Du is making. This is how you go from throwing shirts, to throwing water bottles to pushing to swinging. No one was in danger by Mena throwing his shirt at someone. But he still threw something at an opposing team. It's not a being soft thing. If you start letting stuff like that fly, it gets worse.

I agree that it was 100% wrong on his part to act that way though, but in the heat of the moment, he wasn't thinking at all... I also think that you specifically were the target for more than 1 reason. 1 - You're the team captain. 2 - The fact that you're or were his friend, makes him more comfortable with reacting like that towards you. I again do believe that his was 100% out of place for doing that, but I also don't think that you should take it so personal like that... That's my opinion tbh

Up until today, again, thanks to Capcom's editing, I thought you guys just let it slide off your shoulders, no problem. Very good explanation, I congratulate you and respect you. I am Dominican and I understand the idiosyncrasy of the Dominican. I can assure you 90% that Mena's intention was neither to physically hurt you nor to disrespect you. Mind you, I am not justifying that the act itself is fair. Because if we look at it from another idiosyncrasy, it can, and for me it is, an unconscious fault, but a fault. About responding to Dominicans, NU, look at the level of education of most of us and you will understand what I mean. On the professional side, you are both very good and I believe and understand that, speaking offline as a pro player, you do not have to be friends; just a conversation based on respect, you will understand each other because for me you are both very intelligent.

As another Dominican, I disagree with it being cultural. While it is true that a pop off like this is not uncommon for us doesn't mean it's not disrespectful. And you guys talked and you congratulated the team. Does These video is cuz of what people is saying? Or because you are revoking your friendship to mena ? Obviously these was months ago, so seen the video and reading and seeing what people are saying made you feel disappointed or disrespected again. I would love to hear you and hear what you think?

Still corny and would be annoying. Hopefully everyone starts throwing shirts at events to show how annoying it is.

Zhen is a professional, dude knows what’s going on and doesn’t engage with this mena throwing shirt

It is hard to be in his position. MenaRD is fighting hard for the team so of course Zhen wants to be 100% supportive but has to do it without getting into the conflicts somehow. Du and Mena should really make themselves being better examples as vets in FGC instead of getting folks who just want to play into unwanted troubles. Same with Dual Kevin. He made an amazing run in this season but his play is overshadowed by this sad drama.

Respect to NuckleDu for standing up to him. Really not a fan of Mena. Mena's fanboys keep defending him thats why he has this kind of personality.

Shouting is fine bro. Throwing physical object at people, thats not okay. And it shouldnt be the norm to be okay.

Hey man, you had months to deliberate on the decision to upload this and still went through with it, which clearly shows this resonated with you. Despite that, its just a he said/ she said type situation without us having the full scoop of things. I will say from the outside looking in is that Capcom’s decision to show the shirt throw and omit any discourse speaks volumes for how they feel about the situation.

Look, at the end of the day, everyone is complaining that the referees are draining the competitiveness out of the NBA at the moment because the players are getting sat down for the slightest things on the court. Passion, controversy and rivalry makes good TV and the eSports scene needs to continue to grow and attract more viewers. Everything is too soft these days to the point where sport is becoming almost a robotic spectator gig with no personality. We need the intensity back, this is part of the warrior culture in combat sports that used to be prevalent going back to Gecko Roman times (that's why Marisa is an interesting character to me), it's still in some of our DNA at least. The problem is, we're being convinced that testosterone and masculinity is toxic - IT ISN'T. My only concern is that T-Shirt may have been a little sweaty from all that sweaty play, but it may have been relatively dry considering he had another top under that. As long nobody is actually throwing fists at anyone, or spitting, throwing water, being clearly abusive in contravention with the law, just let the controversy be a part of the sport. Looked like normal banter between competitive males to me, most of them were smiling, so I don't see a problem. I just think there's a bit of salt here and you need to watch what gets micro banned, because if you can't have these moments in sports, it's going to become sterile and dull as dish water and there will be no turning back from it (you won't be able to petition to get controversy allowed again). Look at how lit the SF4 era was because of the rivalries. Let's put it this way - the real question is, if you can't deal with someone throwing a soft item of clothing at you, how are you going to deal with life man? The world is going to throw MUCH tougher challenges at you. I dunno, maybe I just grew up in a time where you had to be tough to survive and make it, things are a bit weird now.

Did you speak to Mena afterwards in private? Because I have a feeling that if you guys spoke and expressed how it felt disrespectful he may have come around. That should always be the first thing to do in a situation like this. Communication.
